The long-awaited Range Rover Velar facelift has finally been launched by famed British luxury SUV maker Land Rover, stirring a lot of excitement among automotive enthusiasts. The new Velar, which retails for Rs 93 lakh (ex-showroom, India), includes new features and aesthetic improvements.

The long-awaited Range Rover Velar facelift has finally been launched by famed British luxury SUV maker Land Rover, stirring a lot of excitement among automotive enthusiasts. The new Velar, which retails for Rs 93 lakh (ex-showroom, India), includes new features and aesthetic improvements. The facelift costs Rs 3.59 lakh more compared to the previous model. For the uninitiated, the price of the previous model stood at Rs 89.41 lakh (ex-showroom). The Velar facelift provides two potent powerplant options and is available in a single HSE trim level. Bookings for the car have been underway since last week, and prospective buyers can expect the deliveries to start in September. Following its launch, the new Velar is now prepared to take on the Porsche Macan and the Jaguar F-Pace in India. Here are the top highlights of the all-new Range Rover Velar from Land Rover.

Range Rover Velar Facelift: Design Details

The Range Rover Velar is even more svelte than before thanks to the most recent modification. New pixel LED headlights, a new grille, new front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, and updated taillamps have all been added by the automaker. Along with Fuji White and Santorini Black, there are also two new colours options available: Premium Metallic Varesine Grey and Metallic Varesine Blue.

Range Rover Velar Facelift: Powertrain Options

The facelifted version comes with two engine options: a 2.0-litre gasoline unit and a 2.0-litre diesel unit with a mild hybrid system. The diesel engine produces 201bhp of maximum power and 430Nm of peak torque, while the petrol-powered engine produces 247bhp and 365Nm. Both motors utilise an 8-speed automatic gearbox for transmission duties. The diesel engine's stated top speed is 210km/h, and it takes 8.3 seconds to accelerate from a complete stop to 100km/h. On the other hand, the petrol engine's top speed is 217km/h, and it accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. The Range Rover Velar facelift features a 580mm water-wading depth, fitting for a Land Rover. Additionally, it includes an air suspension with a "Elegant Arrival" setting that lowers the ride height by 40mm while getting in and out of the car.

The interior of the updated Range Rover Velar features a modern, clean design. It now has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on JLR's 11.4-inch Pivi Pro central information hub. Windsor leather trim is used throughout the cabin and is available in the Caraway/Ebony or Deep Garnet/Ebony themes. The manufacturer has further added a wireless charging pad, four-zone temperature control, driver-seat memory settings, an air purifier plus, onboard Amazon Alexa assistant, an 11-speaker, 400-watt Meridian sound system, 20-way powered front seats with massage and heating/ventilation functions, a 360-degree camera, software over-the-air updates, metal pedals, active road noise cancellation, multicoloured ambient lighting, a fixed panoramic sunroof, and powered rear seats.

Range Rover Velar Facelift: Market Rivals

As previously mentioned, deliveries for the updated Range Rover Velar are expected to start in September 2023. In India, the newly launched model competes against the likes of the Porsche Macan as well as the Jaguar F-Pace.

JLR Recent Sales Figures

In the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced sales of 1,048 units, representing a 102 per cent increase in sales year over year. The carmaker added that 78 per cent of its total sales came from the Range Rover, the Range Rover Sport, and the Defender. JLR's pre-owned automobile division also saw a 137 per cent year-over-year gain.
