Renault’s upcoming Kwid EV has been spotted without camouflage at a port in Brazil, drawing attention ahead of its global launch. The electric hatchback shares its design with the Dacia Spring EV, which made its debut earlier this year. This shared styling fits into Renault’s broader plan to streamline development by using the same platforms and components across different markets. In India, the Kwid EV will be part of a larger rollout that includes the next-generation Duster and an updated Triber. The Triber facelift is expected to arrive before the Kwid EV.

In terms of design, the Kwid EV keeps the familiar shape of the petrol version but adds several updates. The front now has horizontal daytime running lights and polygonal headlamps. The charging port is placed behind the Renault badge on the nose. At the rear, the updated taillights are set within a dark panel that stretches across the boot, giving the car a more up-to-date look.
Inside, Renault hasn’t shown the cabin yet, but it is likely to follow the Dacia Spring’s layout. Expected features include a touchscreen on the centre console, a digital instrument cluster, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The gear selector may be a toggle switch, which helps keep the dashboard clean and easy to use. The focus seems to be on offering a simple and modern driving environment.
The Dacia Spring EV, sold in other markets, comes with two motor options. A 44bhp and 64bhp motor paired with a 26.8 kWh battery. It delivers a range of about 220km on a single charge. Renault is likely to use the same setup in the Kwid EV for India.

With the Kwid EV, Renault aims to give Indian buyers an accessible electric option that’s suitable for daily use. The company is using known technology and a familiar body style to reach more customers as interest in EVs continues to rise.
