Renault has expanded its global EV strategy by unveiling the Kwid E-Tech in Brazil. Based on the Dacia Spring EV platform, the compact hatchback has already been seen testing on Indian roads, indicating a possible launch soon. The model will target India’s affordable EV segment, competing with the Citroen e-C3 and Tata Tiago EV. Renault’s move aligns with its plan to grow in emerging markets by offering a small electric vehicle designed for urban usage. The brand aims to strengthen its position among city buyers seeking low-cost electric mobility in one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets.

The Kwid E-Tech features a closed front grille with vertical slats, projector headlights, and Y-shaped LED DRLs. It retains the Kwid’s familiar design with minor updates suited to its electric version. Black cladding around the wheel arches, 14-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and new ‘E Kwid’ and ‘E-Tech’ badges differentiate it from the petrol model. The updates maintain continuity in design while marking a clear shift towards Renault’s EV identity.
The hatchback receives a seven-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is a console-mounted electronic gear selector, dual USB-C ports, and a height-adjustable steering wheel.

The cabin layout is practical, with a 290-litre boot that supports regular usage. Renault has kept the interior simple while adding features expected in modern electric cars.
The Kwid E-Tech uses a 64bhp electric motor producing 113Nm of torque, paired with a 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery. It accelerates from 0–50km/h in 4.1 seconds and offers a claimed range of 180km on a full charge.

Charging options include a 30kW DC fast charger that can recharge from 15 per cent to 80 per cent in 40 minutes and a 7.4kW AC home charger doing the same in roughly three hours. These options make it suitable for city driving needs.
