Renault Kwid Superhero Edition launched

This special edition Renault Kwid is inspired by the liveries of Marvel Superheroes Captain America and Iron Man.

Renault seems to be a car maker that firmly believes in the philosophy of ‘out of sight, out of mind’, especially when it comes to the Kwid. Since its launch in 2015, Kwid has been the highest selling model for the car maker. To further the game, the French car maker has been bringing regular updates to the model ever since its launch. It started with the 1.0-litre option, then the choice of an AMT was added and then came some special editions celebrating the car’s anniversary. Today, they have brought in another such special edition with its livery inspired by Marvel Superheroes Captain America and Iron Man. The Kwid Superhero Edition will only be offered with the 1.0-litre engine option – in its manual as well as AMT variants. The car is priced at Rs. 4,33,500 for the manual transmission variant and Rs. 4,63,500 (ex-showroom) for the AMT. Bookings for these special editions have commenced at a minimum amount of Rs. 9,999.

Difference between the standard model and this special edition is primarily cosmetic. The car sports Marvel inspired graphics, ORVMs with contrast streak and new wheel caps. Just like the Kwid Climber, this one too gets contrast accents on the grille and the faux skid plate (red for the Captain America version and Gold for the Iron Man option). Other changes include, contrast stitching on the steering wheel and gear knob (only in the MT trim). On the inside, the infotainment system and the door panels will also get corresponding surrounds – red for the Captain America and gold for the Iron Man version.

At the heart, the Kwid comes with an 800cc three-cylinder motor and the option of a 1.0-litre option. The former is good for 53bhp and 72Nm, while the latter churns out 67bhp and 91Nm. Both models come fitted with a 5-speed manual transmission while the 1.0-litre Kwid also gets an AMT.

The Kwid continues to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and Datsun redi-Go.
