Rolls-Royce recently took the wraps off the Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Special Edition. As its name suggests, the model takes its design inspiration from a total solar eclipse. A partial solar eclipse will be visible throughout a sizable portion of the Western Hemisphere on October 14. In areas like Dallas, Texas, the moon is predicted to block up to 80 per cent of the sun during the cosmic phenomenon. A special Black Badge Ghost edition known as the Ékleipsis Private Collection has been developed by the British luxury automaker Rolls-Royce to commemorate the event. The car's dynamic Starlight Headliner is one of its most eye-catching features. Interestingly, a circle of 940 stars that represents the sun's corona, which is frequently visible during a total solar eclipse, appears overhead as soon as the engine starts. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Ékleipsis edition is a remarkable blend of expert craftsmanship and unique design. It is important to note that this exclusive edition is limited to 25 units, and they have all been already reserved.

The model is officially known as the Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost Ékleipsis Private Collection. The predominant colour used for the exterior is a Dark Lyrical Copper with a special "powdered copper pigment" finish that creates an iridescent look when exposed to light. Furthermore, the hand-painted coachline, center caps, and brake calipers have Mandarin accents that are painted to mimic the colour of the sun hiding behind the moon gradually in the stages preceeding a total eclipse.

The premium carmaker is well known for its Starlight headliner, which imitates the night sky by using hundreds of tiny lights embedded in the car's roof. The Ékleipsis edition features a unique setup with an animation that is visible once the doors close and the engine is started. This setup displays a circle of 940 stars acting as the corona of light that peeks around the moon during the eclipse. The circle is surrounded by 192 other LEDs posing as the stars that are suddenly visible during the day when a total eclipse eventually takes place. The special LED display lasts for exactly 7 minutes and 31 seconds, which also represents the duration of the longest eclipse before it returns to a constellation.

An exquisite piece of art made up of 1846 laser-etched "stars" can be seen on the dashboard, as you move inside the cabin. It took 100 hours to complete this remarkable display. The "diamond ring" phenomenon, in which a single point of light becomes visible just before and after the moon crosses in front of the sun, served as the inspiration for the unusual timepiece to the left, which features a 0.5-carat diamond embedded into the clock's bezel. Over 200,000 perforations in a distinctive pattern cover the black leather of the two-tone chairs, revealing Mandarin accents underneath.
