Skoda Auto has teaser images of the Elroq electric SUV making its global debut later this year. Interestingly, it is the first production EV (electric vehicle) from the Czech carmaker Skoda to embody all the attributes of the new 'Modern Solid' design language, with the key element being the Tech-Deck face – which is the progression of Skoda's traditional butterfly grille with a flatter and wider appearance. Flanking the grille are split headlamps with Matrix LED lights. Lower down is a sharply contoured bonnet with Skoda lettering. While the wheel size is still not unknown, we do know that the Skoda Elroq will get large wheels.

'At Skoda, design is an important part of the brand identity and one of the main factors of our success. The continuous development of key visual elements is both a demanding and exciting task. For this reason, my team and I are thrilled to present the preview of the first Škoda model to incorporate the new Modern Solid design language such as the Tech-Deck Face and a more robust overall look,' said Oliver Stefani, Head, Skoda Auto Design.

Measuring 4,500mm in length, the Skoda Elroq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular electric car platform, making it the third Skoda to do so after the Enyaq and the Enyaq Coupe. The platform offers both single- and dual-motor configurations, but it remains to be seen which one the Elroq gets.

Skoda to Introduce 6 EVs by 2026

The Skoda Elroq, an electric crossover to the Karoq, will lead the charge as the first of no fewer than six battery-electric models coming by 2026. It will go on sale with a generously sized interior this year. The following year will see Skoda bring in the second-generation Enyaq and the Enyaq Coupe, alongside an entry-level electric vehicle that will be built by the Spanish carmaker SEAT. In the same year, Skoda will start selling the production-spec Epiq subcompact SUV revealed as a concept car in March 2024.
