Skoda and Volkswagen have announced a fresh recall in India, affecting a total of 1,821 cars due to seatbelt-related safety concerns. This marks the second such recall this year, following a larger one in May that involved over 47,000 vehicles. The issue affects select models built between December 2021 and May 2025.
Skoda’s share of this recall covers 860 units of the Kushaq, Slavia, and Kylaq. The problem lies in the seatbelt system, where some cars may have a cracked metal frame or wrongly fitted parts. To ensure safety, Skoda will replace these components free of cost, although a timeline for repairs hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Volkswagen, on the other hand, is recalling 961 units of the Virtus and Taigun. Volkswagen is encouraging affected owners to take quick action to get their vehicles checked and repaired.

Customers don’t have to wait to be contacted. Both Skoda and Volkswagen have VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) check tools on their websites, where owners can verify if their car is included in the recall. Once confirmed, they can visit the nearest authorised service centre to get the issue resolved.

If you own any of the affected models, it’s best to check your car’s status and book a service visit early to stay safe on the road.
