Skoda is reportedly preparing key updates for its sub-4-metre compact SUV, including a Sportline variant, a CNG powertrain, and an 8-speed automatic transmission (recently added to the Kushaq Facelift). While these additions have not yet been officially confirmed, they are expected to enhance the SUV’s appeal and strengthen its presence in the crowded segment.
The Skoda Kylaq, which launched in late 2024, recently reached a significant production milestone, with the 50,000th unit rolling off the assembly line at Skoda’s Chakan plant in Pune.
The facility has recently expanded its production capacity by 30% to keep pace with growing demand. Alongside these developments, Skoda Auto India implemented its second price revision for the Kylaq this year, with increases of up to Rs 33,000 across variants. The SUV now starts at Rs 7.59 lakh and goes up to Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Let’s take a closer look at the key features and potential updates of the Kylaq SUV.
Skoda is gearing up to launch a Sportline version of the Kylaq SUV to target buyers who look for a more aggressive and sturdier option. You can expect a few key design changes in the form of new alloys, blacked-out trims, and taillamps with smoked-effect. That said, the engine setup will most likely remain the same.

The Kylaq SUV is expected to receive a CNG powertrain option soon. The CNG will likely be available as a dealer-fitted retrofit for manual variants only. The CNG-equipped Kylaq is anticipated to offer a mileage of around 25–30 km/kg.

For comparison, the current Kylaq delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.68km/l with the manual gearbox, while the automatic version returns 19.05km/l.
Skoda is likely to offer an 8-speed automatic gearbox option with the Kylaq SUV, following its recent debut in the Kushaq facelift. Currently, the SUV can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
