Skoda Rapid facelift launched at Rs. 8.34 lakh

Skoda Auto India has launched a facelifted Rapid in India for Rs. 8.34 (ex-showroom Maharashtra).

A much needed facelift of the Skoda Rapid has been launched in India with some cosmetic changes and minor improvements in the powertrain.

The exterior styling has been updated to bring it in line with Skoda’s new design philosophy which features sharper edged styling and bold lines. The front grille is new with vertical slats flanked by sleek headlamps with LED daytime running lights, a wide front bumper and large fog-lamps at the front. The rear however is more or less the same as the outgoing version of the Rapid.

The Skoda Rapid facelift gets the same engine options at the previous version. The prtol motor is a 1.6-litre, in-line four-cylinder engine that churns out 103bhp and 153Nm of torque which is offered with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. As for the diesel option, Skoda offers a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine which produces 108bhp and 250Nm of torque. As standard, a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch DSG automatic will be offered with the car.

The new Rapid comes loaded with features like automatic rain-sensing wipers, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, traction control and will feature a new touchscreen 'Drive' infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and MirrorLink. the new Rapid also has a 460-litre boot space and features safety equipment like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags and hill hold assist, rear parking sensors and  camera.

The Skoda Rapid competes with its sister car the Volkswagen Vento, upon which it is based on, in addition to the Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Hyundai Verna among others.
