Skoda Rapid Matte Edition on the way

Skoda India will soon introduce the Rapid with a matte paint scheme. The variant will be dubbed the Matte Edition and will mostly be a permanent addition to the sedan’s variant line-up.

Just recently, Kia India introduced the X Line variant of the Seltos. The X Line received a few cosmetic tweaks and a graphite matte exterior colour scheme. Now, Skoda India will soon follow with its upcoming Matte Edition of the Rapid. The changes to the new edition of the Rapid will be cosmetic, while the mechanicals will be the same as the outgoing Rapid.

As the name suggests, the exterior of the Matte Edition will be finished in a matte grey paint scheme. Exterior parts such as chrome grille surround, ORVM caps, boot lid inserts, and alloy wheels will be finished in gloss black.

The interior will get a matte treatment as well. The upholstery with dark colours will complement the exterior. This new Matte Edition will be based on the top-spec (Style) variant. The cabin will have features such as an 8-inch infotainment screen, powered mirrors, auto-headlamps, and wipers.

The engine will be the same 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor as the outgoing model. And most likely, the Matte Edition will be sold with both a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic.

The Skoda Rapid is priced between Rs 7.80 lakh and 13.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Matte Edition will most likely be based on the Style variant and could ask Rs 50,000 more than the respective Style MT and Style AT pricing. Expect the Rapid Matte Edition to reach the showrooms by next month. An official price announcement could be held in the coming weeks.
