Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI launched at Rs 16.19 lakh

The Skoda Slavia 1.5-litre TSI has stepped into a niche segment. The new Czech sedan, with a larger engine, could be an antidote to the SUV-obsessed Indian automotive market.

A few days ago, Skoda India announced the prices of the 1.0-litre TSI variant of the Slavia. You can read about it by clicking here. Now, Skoda has revealed the prices of the 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol variant. This variant is available in the Style trim and gets an option of a manual or a dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Following are the prices of the Skoda Slavia 1.5-litre TSI variant:

Skoda Slavia 1.5 Style MT – Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom)

Skoda Slavia 1.5 Style DSG – Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom)

As mentioned earlier, the Slavia 1.5 TSI is only available in the Style variant, which makes it the top-of-the-line trim level. That said, the Slavia is likely to get the Monte Carlo Edition, just like the Skoda Rapid back in the day. Now, the Kushaq is sure to be launched in the Monte Carlo Edition, with some premium features.

Coming back to the Slavia, the 1.5-litre engine is likely to be the choice of many enthusiasts. The engine puts out 148bhp and 250Nm, which is more than what the Kia Seltos’ and Hyundai Creta’s 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor produces. This engine is offered with a three-pedal six-speed manual, especially in times when manufacturers are offering enthusiasts’ cars with a clutchless manual. While the automatic variant offers some convenience, the DSG gearbox is likely to be very sporty in nature given its quick shifts.

The Skoda Slavia 1.5 TSI does not have a rival at the moment. Cars such as the Hyundai Verna, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz rival the Slavia 1.0 TSI. The Slavia 1.5 could have been a rival to the Hyundai Elantra; however, the Korean carmaker has recently delisted the Elantra from its official website. So, for now, this new top-of-the-line Slavia 1.5 TSI is in a league of its own.
