Time and again, prominent manufacturers across the world have shown their caliber for introducing alternative fuel mobility, and joining this list, Maruti Suzuki has revealed the Victoris powered by compressed natural gas. According to the Japanese automaker, the Victoris CBG (Compressed Biogas) is more than an eco-badge on a familiar model. It is part of a project that began in 2022, aiming to convert dairy and agricultural by-products into usable fuel, thereby empowering rural communities and advancing India’s carbon-neutral ambitions. The CBG variant shares its underpinnings with the CNG version but runs on biogas, a renewable form of methane. Here’s everything you need to know about the CBG model.
The CBG variant has the same length (4,360mm), width (1,795mm), and height (1,655mm) as the regular Victoris. It also continues with the under-floor dual-cylinder setup, ensuring ample boot space, unlike conventional gas systems that occupy the trunk area.
The Victoris, in its CBG form, retains the core exterior design of the standard model. However, it features exclusive side decals that distinguish it as the CBG variant. Suzuki has not revealed the interior of the biogas-powered Victoris, but we anticipate it to be the same as the regular version.
The CBG variant highlights Suzuki’s commitment to creating a platform capable of supporting multiple fuel pathways: petrol, CNG, hybrid, and biogas. It also emphasises the model’s longevity and adaptability across diverse markets with developing fuel infrastructures.
It is worth noting that the Victoris CBG variant has only been showcased as a prototype, and there are currently no official details regarding its commercial launch.
