Tata Motors has officially revealed the 2023 iterations of the Harrier and the Safari in India, both of which have changed in a number of ways. The forthcoming SUVs will be powered by the same 2.0-litre diesel motor with 168bhp, mated to 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions. In terms of mileage, the new Harrier boasts a fuel efficiency of 16.80km/l for the manual variant and 14.60km/l for the automatic variant. While the fuel efficiency figure for the automatic version remains the same, the manual version’s fuel efficiency has improved by 0.45km/l from the earlier figure of 16.35km/l.
The revised Safari’s manual and automatic versions, on the other hand, now have claimed fuel efficiency figures of 16.30km/l and 14.50km/l, respectively, exhibiting a borderline increase of 0.14km/l and 0.42km/l over the pre-facelift edition.
Cosmetically, the 2023 versions of the Harrier and Safari come with a range of updates. The new Harrier, in particular, sports updated bumpers, split-type LED headlights, connecting-type LED DRL, a revamped grille, and more. To match the new alloy wheels, the wheel wells, roof rails, and outside rearview mirrors have also been painted black. The new Safari’s front profile is influenced by the Curvv Concept, featuring a reworked grille, vertically split headlights, and integrated LED DRLs, which stretch across the length of the hood. The main headlamp units of the SUV now have an upright stance, and the alloy wheels have been altered. Further, the revamped Safari and the Harrier have a connected light bar design at the back.

The Harrier and the Safari SUVs before the makeover cost between Rs 15.19 lakh and Rs 24.26 lakh, and Rs 15.84 lakh and Rs 25.21 lakh, respectively (all prices are ex-showroom). Although the prices of the new models have not been announced yet, industry reports suggest that the redesigned SUVs will be somewhat similarly priced. That said, the top-spec versions of the SUVs are likely to demand a hefty premium over the outgoing models.
