Tata Harrier

Tata Motors has announced that the facelifted versions of its popular SUVs, the Harrier and the Safari, will go on sale in India on October 17. Bookings for both models are already underway for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The all-new iterations of the SUVs were recently unveiled and have undergone extensive improvements both inside and out, in addition to receiving additional features. However, there is no change on the mechanical front, and the newly debuted models continue to employ the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine. The Harrier SUV initially arrived in the Indian market in 2019, and the automaker has since delivered over one lakh units of the car. Meanwhile, the Safari was launched two years ago in 2021. As the manufacturer gears up to announce the prices of these offerings, let's take a look at their design, specs, and feature details.

Tata Harrier, Safari Facelifts: Design

The Harrier and the Safari facelifts receive a variety of cosmetic changes for a more updated look without significantly deviating from their original styling. A reworked front fascia, including a new grille, upgraded headlamp, and fog light casings can be noticed on the updated Tata Safari. Its front profile has an extended DRL light bar with signature lighting for ‘Welcome’ and ‘Goodbye’. Along with a revised alloy design, the rear end of the SUV also features a similar light bar.

Additionally, the updated Tata Harrier has a more contemporary exterior, which offers a sportier look instead of a purely muscular one. It also has a redesigned front grille and new vertical housing for the headlights and fog lights, and it sports an extended tail light LED bar in addition to the Safari's equivalent elongated DRL bar at the front. Each SUV will come in a 'Dark' edition variation and a total of seven exterior colour schemes.

Coming to the feature list, the facelifted SUVs boast a sizable 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, a redesigned gear lever with a mode selector dial, a 10-speaker JBL system, powered and ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, an air purifier, a 360-degree surround camera, an ADAS suite, a four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, an all-digital instrument cluster with navigation, dual-zone climate control, touch-based HVAC controls, and a panoramic sunroof.

The same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine powering both SUVs is coupled to a torque converter with a six-speed manual and an automatic transmission. This BS6 phase-2 compliant unit has been modified to churn out 168bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque.

The brand is set to announce the pricing details of the models on October 17. By launching the improved versions of both Harrier and Safari SUVs, Tata Motors intends to strengthen its position in the fiercely competitive SUV market in India.
