Tata Motors has updated the Punch SUV's line-up for 2024, by increasing prices, axing ten variants, and adding three new variants. In addition, market reports suggest that the range-topping Creative and Creative Flagship variants have had their feature list rejigged. As part of this revision, the Tata Punch no longer comes in eight Camo variants, which were introduced on the mid-spec Adventure and Accomplished variants. These include the Camo Adventure MT, Camo Adventure Rhythm MT, Camo Adventure AMT, Camo Adventure Rhythm AMT, Camo Accomplished MT, Camo Accomplished Dazzle MT, Camo Accomplished AMT, and Camo Accomplished Dazzle AMT.

Launched in September 2022 in India, the Punch Camo Edition was available in a bespoke Foliage Green exterior shade with dual-tone roof colour options (Piano Black and Pristine White). Exterior bits also included 'Camo' badging on the fenders. On the inside, the Camo Edition came with a combination of military green cabin accents and camouflage seat upholstery, together with a 7.0-inch, 6-speaker Harman infotainment system, 16-inch charcoal-coloured diamond-cut alloy wheels, and a reverse parking camera. The other two variants discontinued are the Creative Dual Tone and Creative Flagship MT Dual Tone.

Tata Punch: New Variants

Nevertheless, Tata has added three new variants to the Punch line-up – Creative MT, Creative Flagship MT, and Creative AMT, available at Rs 8.85 lakh, Rs 9.60 lakh, and Rs 9.45 lakh, respectively. Prices are ex-showroom. As mentioned above, the Punch Creative and Creative Flagship have seen some updates to their feature list. Only electric sunroof-equipped Creative variants (Creative DT SR) now get the dual-tone paint option, while the Creative Flagship comes standard with a dual-tone paint finish.

Tata Punch: Updated Price List

At Rs 6.13 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Pure variant, the Tata Punch now starts at Rs 13,000 lower than before. At the top of the heap sits the Creative Flagship AMT DT, priced at Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom). Below is the variant-wise revised pricing of the petrol-powered SUV, mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT:

Tata Punch: Powertrain

Under the hood, the Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that makes 86.63bhp at 6,000rpm and 115Nm of peak torque at 3,250rpm. This engine comes paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic option. In CNG mode, the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine cranks out 72bhp and 103Nm of torque. The CNG variants come only with a 5-speed manual transmission. Like the Altroz CNG, the Punch CNG offers a dual-cylinder setup tucked under the boot floor.

In terms of market rivalry, the Tata Punch is squarely aimed at the Hyundai Exter, which is priced from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.06 lakh (ex-showroom). Apart from the Hyundai Exter, the Tata Punch rivals the likes of the Nissan Magnite, the Mahindra KUV100, the Renault Kiger, and others. In related news, the carmaker in early February hiked the prices of the SUV, bringing the starting price of the sub-four-metre offering to Rs 6.13 lakh (ex-showroom).
