Tata Motor has been on a roll so far, this year. They kick-started 2017 with the launch of the Hexa and followed it up with the big announcement of its low cost low volume sub-brand Tamo. Then at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show they took the wraps off the first Tamo offering Racemo. Now the company is about to launch a new compact sedan, Tigor, on 29th March. Pre-launch bookings for the Tigor have already commenced at a minimum booking amount of Rs 5,000.

The Tigor is based on the same platform as the Tiago but it is longer, taller and has a longer wheelbase. In fact, thanks to some smart designing from Tata, it also makes good space on the inside and has a large 419 litre boot. In a segment that is dominated by disproportionate looking cars, the Tigor looks impressive.

Under the hood, the Tigor also shares the same engine options as the Tiago. The compact sedan offering makes 84bhp and 114Nm from a 1.2-litre gasoline motor. The diesel comes with a 1.05-litre motor that is good for 69bhp and 140Nm. Both these engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is no AMT on offer as yet.

In terms of features, the Tigor comes heavily loaded including projector headlamps, reversing camera, steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment with Bluetooth, AUX and USB connectivity, automatic climate control, rear arm rest and more. On its launch, the Tata Tigor is expected to be priced at around Rs 4 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 6.5 lakh for the top-spec diesel.
