Although there is no confirmation, the new Volkswagen T-Roc could make it to Indian shores as a CBU unit, similar to the Tiguan R-Line and Golf GTI.

Volkswagen has revealed the second-gen T-Roc for the global market, and as you can see from its design, the German carmaker has retained the essence of its best-selling predecessor while introducing subtle yet noticeable exterior changes. For example, while the overall silhouette is the same, the front now looks more aggressive with a wider and commanding grille design. A full-width light bar now connects the new, sharp-looking LED headlights, and an illuminated VW badge sits right in the middle. The side sharp creases, sportier alloy wheel designs across the range, and an updated light bar at the rear complete the refined aesthetic.

Dimensionally, the second-generation T-Roc has seen some worthy upgrades. The length has increased by 122mm, now measuring 4,373mm, while the wheelbase has grown to 2,631mm, an addition of 28mm. Moreover, the boot now holds 465 litres, a slight but useful improvement.

The 2026 iteration is the greenest T-Roc yet, with about 40 kg of recycled plastics used in the interior (which makes up about 20% of the interior materials).

A redesigned cockpit headlined by a large infotainment screen (either 10.4- or 12.9-inch) is among the most striking interior improvements. The display has taken over most of the physical controls for things like climate functions, resulting in a more uncluttered and minimalistic look.

The cabin features soft-touch materials throughout, while certain variants offer a fabric-covered dashboard that adds a lounge-like atmosphere. Moreover, a column-mounted shifter has replaced the gear lever on the centre console.
The new T-Roc lineup in Europe will be exclusively hybrid. The initial range will include two 1.5-litre 48V mild-hybrid (eTSI) units producing 114bhp and 148bhp. These are mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Later on, Volkswagen will introduce two completely new full-hybrid systems, both with front-wheel drive.

The carmaker has also confirmed that 4MOTION all-wheel drive will return in future variants, with the 2.0-litre TSI engine in a mild hybrid configuration. A high-performance T-Roc R will also join the range.
