The Volkswagen Golf GTI is set to make a comeback in the Indian market, with the brand confirming a second batch of units for the country. Following a strong response to the initial allotment, Volkswagen will reopen bookings for the hot hatchback by the end of the year. The company recently announced the price of the fully-loaded single-variant Golf GTI at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). Known for its blend of performance, everyday usability, and iconic status among enthusiasts, the Golf GTI appeals to a niche but growing segment of premium hatchback buyers in India. The upcoming batch is expected to follow the same CBU (Completely Built-Up) import strategy as before.
Under the hood, the Golf GTI is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 260bhp and 370Nm of torque. This power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims the hatchback can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 250km/h.

The GTI benefits from a range of performance upgrades over the standard model. These include enhanced braking capability, a stiffer suspension setup, more responsive steering, and an electronic front differential to improve traction during high-speed cornering.
The 2025 Volkswagen Golf GTI asserts its sporty identity with a bold, performance-inspired exterior. Rolling on standard 18-inch alloys – upgradeable to 19 inches – the car combines visual aggression with signature design cues. A contoured bonnet, red brake calipers, and sharp character lines enhance its athletic profile. Signature GTI flourishes include a red-accented grille, precision-cut matrix LED headlamps, and a contrasting roof spoiler, all contributing to its assertive aesthetic.
At the rear, twin chrome exhaust tips and an illuminated VW emblem complete the hatchback’s dynamic look. Buyers can select from four colour choices: Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Oryx White, and Kings Red Metallic.
Inside, the cabin balances functionality with flair, blending minimalist design and digital sophistication. The dashboard is neatly arranged, anchored by dual screens that provide both driving data and infotainment access. A thick-rimmed, three-spoke steering wheel offers a firm, engaging grip, while the front sport seats are heavily bolstered for support and upholstered in the GTI’s signature plaid-pattern fabric.

Coming to the safety and driver assistance, the Golf GTI is well-equipped. It features seven airbags, a rearview camera, and front and rear parking sensors. Complementing these features is an advanced driver assistance system that offers semi-autonomous capabilities, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, designed to enhance long-distance driving comfort and overall safety.
