 Ferrari 296 GT3 18 Scale Model New

The Ferrari 296 GT3 model in a 1:8 scale is the latest addition to a lineup of scale models created by Amalgam Collection. Priced at $ 18,090 (roughly Rs 15.40 lakh) in a standard livery, the 1:8 scale replica of the Ferrari 296 GT3 incorporates every aspect of the original model. It is individually crafted by hand, using thousands of parts. Amalgam says that this latest scale model is so skilfully designed and developed that the process, on the whole, took more than 3,000 hours.

To ensure authenticity, automotive model creators at Amalgam consulted with Ferrari and used the car's original CAD (computer-aided design) data provided by the Italian manufacturer. Using that, various moulds were created. From there, every part was cast in prototyping resin, then fettled and fitted, painted and assembled.

As a result, what you see in the images is the 1:8 scale replica of the Ferrari 296 GT3, finished in the iconic Rosso Imola paint scheme. "Utilising our close relationship with Ferrari, we have access to detailed specification data enabling the most faithful representation of each client’s car in all details. From the livery design and sponsor decals on the exterior, right down to the harness and the material of the steering wheel, every visible aspect of a specific race car will be perfectly reproduced in miniature", said Sandy Copeman, Founder and Brand Director, Amalgam Collection.

Inside, you get openable doors, a Bosche monitor and control console, individually stitched racing harnesses, steering wheel-mounted buttons and switches, and other bits replicating the original car.

Ferrari 296 GT3 1:8 Scale Model: Powertrain

Under the bonnet, the 1:8 scale model uses the same twin-turbocharged V6 engine as the original Ferrari 296 GT3. Power and torque figures stand at 594bhp (602hp) and 709Nm, respectively. Mated to this engine is a transverse-mounted, six-speed sequential gearbox with electronic clutch actuation, leading to weight reduction and better aerodynamics.

A limited production run of the Ferrari 296 GT3 1:8 scale model will be hand-built at workshops in Bristol, England. Only 199 units will be made, which is one of the reasons for it being a collector's item. Each model starts at $ 18,090, which is more than the price of the Hyundai Creta (Rs 10.87 lakh, ex-showroom).
