Maruti Suzuki remained the best-selling car brand in November 2025, with 1.71 lakh units. It was followed by Tata Motors with 57,436 units and Mahindra at 56,336 units. The overall PV market posted strong year-on-year growth of 18.7%, with 4.17 lakh units sold, marking the third-highest monthly tally of the year.
Demand remained strong after the festive season, fuelled by budget-conscious buyers taking advantage of GST cuts and sustained SUV popularity, highlighting a resilient passenger vehicle market. Here’s a closer look at the top five best-selling carmakers driving this growth.
Maruti Suzuki registered a notable 21% year-on-year growth in November 2025, selling over 1.70 lakh units. Compared to October’s 1.76 lakh units, this was a modest 3% month-on-month decline. The automaker recently unveiled its first electric vehicle in India, the e Vitara, following its debut at the Auto Expo earlier this year.

Built on the HEARTECT-e platform, the e Vitara can seat five people. It is available with two battery options: 49kWh (344 km) and 61kWh (543 km), with a power output ranging from 142bhp to 172bhp. Pricing is expected to be announced in January 2026.

Tata Motors reclaimed the second spot in November 2025, surpassing Mahindra by 1,100 units. It recorded a 22% year-on-year growth, but saw a 6% month-on-month decline from October’s 61,134 units. Tata Motors also launched the new Sierra in India, with the base Smart+ model priced at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the mid-level Pure, Pure+, Adventure, and Adventure+ trims have now been announced, while those for the flagship variants are still awaited.

Mahindra posted a 21.9% year-on-year growth in November, though its month-on-month sales declined from October’s 71,624 units. The automaker has recently introduced its highly anticipated XEV 9S, priced from Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on the INGLO platform, which also underpins the BE 6 and XEV 9e, the XEV 9S is Mahindra’s first three-row electric SUV, boasting a 0–100km/h sprint in just 7 seconds and a top speed of 202 km/h. Bookings for the 7-seater SUV open on January 14, 2026, with deliveries starting January 23.

Hyundai registered a modest 4.3% year-on-year growth in November 2025, while experiencing a 6.4% month-on-month decline. Despite the recent launch of the new Hyundai Venue, the automaker’s growth remained moderate compared to its rivals, with the lowest YoY increase among the top 5 manufacturers.

Toyota posted 19.5% year-on-year growth last month, despite a 25.3% month-on-month decline from October’s 40,257 units. Globally, the automaker unveiled the ninth-generation Hilux, introducing an electric powertrain for the first time while continuing its multi-pathway strategy with 48V hybrids, ICE options, and a hydrogen model planned for 2028.

In India, the Hilux remains powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine shared with the Fortuner, delivering 201bhp and 420Nm with a manual gearbox, or 550Nm with the automatic.
