Top 5 Best-selling Cars in October 2025: Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and More

The festive month of October 2025 saw intense competition among popular nameplates as automakers battled for the top spot in sales. The Nexon, popular sub-4m SUV from Tata Motors, recorded deliveries of over 22,000 units in October. It was followed by the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which saw an impressive 50% year-on-year growth, with sales increasing by 8,093 units compared to last year. The Ertiga MPV and Wagon R secured the third and fourth positions, clocking over 20,000 and 18,000 units, respectively.

Last month’s sales trends were notably influenced by the revised GST structure for vehicles. Under the new regime, cars with petrol engines up to 1,200cc or diesel engines up to 1,500cc and measuring under 4,000mm in length now attract a reduced 18% GST. In contrast, larger cars, including SUVs, luxury models, and bigger hybrids, are taxed at a flat 40% GST, replacing the earlier 28% GST plus cess. Tata Nexon

The Tata Nexon maintained its lead from September, with 22,083 units sold in October 2025, a robust 50% increase over the 14,759 units sold during the same month last year. A consistent bestseller in the sub-4m SUV segment, the Nexon continues to attract buyers with its wide range of powertrain options, including petrol, diesel, and electric variants.

The ICE-powered Nexon is priced at Rs 7.32 lakh, while the EV is available for Rs 12.49 lakh. Both are starting and ex-showroom prices.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire sold 20,791 units in October 2025, marking a remarkable 64% year-on-year growth compared to 12,698 units sold during the same month last year. Ever since its launch, the Dzire has been one of the consistent performers in the compact sedan segment, with features like a spacious cabin, elegant design, and a well-balanced feature set. Prices for the Dzire start at Rs 6.26 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

Maruti Suzuki is undeniably one of the country’s top-selling carmakers, with three of its models among the five best-selling cars on the list. Another Maruti Suzuki entry on the list is the Ertiga MPV, which sold 20,087 units in October, up from 18,785 units in the same month last year. This translates to a year-on-year growth of 7%. The Ertiga is priced starting at Rs 8.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R

The Wagon R was the fourth best-selling car in October, with 18,970 units sold, up 36% from 13,922 units in October 2024. Known for its tall-boy hatchback design and reliable features, the Wagon R is a popular choice among first-time car buyers in India. Its price starts at Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

Hyundai Creta

The Creta SUV rounds off the list of the five best-selling cars in October 2025, with 18,381 units sold, up from 17,497 units in October 2024. This indicates a year-on-year growth of 5%. The SUV is available in multiple powertrain options, including electric.
