Toyota Fortuner and Legender are diesel hybrid SUVs with a 2.8L turbo engine + 48V system, offering better performance, mileage, and smoothness with regen braking.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the Fortuner Neo Drive 48V at Rs 44.72 lakh (ex-showroom) and Legender Neo Drive 48V at Rs 50.09 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing 48V hybrid tech to India's popular SUV. These new variants bring segment-first mild-hybrid technology aimed at boosting fuel efficiency and driving performance. Bookings are open across India, with deliveries set to begin in the third week of June 2025. With this launch, Toyota offers a more efficient and responsive Fortuner and Legender, strengthening its SUV line-up in the Indian market.

The new Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive 48V retains its rugged SUV design, continuing to appeal to adventure seekers in India. Known for its off-road capability and bold stance, the Fortuner now combines its tough look with modern hybrid enhancements. With its muscular build and strong road presence, it remains a popular choice among SUV enthusiasts looking for performance and durability.
The Toyota Legender Neo Drive 48V, on the other hand, brings a more premium and stylish appeal. It features dual-tone exterior colour options, sleek split LED headlamps, and a sophisticated front fascia. These updates give the Legender a distinct look that stands apart from the Fortuner. With these design changes, Toyota aims to offer Indian buyers a stylish, efficient, and hybrid-powered SUV option.
The Toyota Fortuner and Legender Neo Drive 48V variants now offer enhanced features such as a 360-degree camera for easier parking and wireless smartphone charging for added convenience.
Both SUVs come with seven airbags, ABS, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist, Traction Control, and a Child Restraint System. These features ensure safer drives across various road conditions. Other features include front seatbelt pre-tensioners, speed auto-lock with emergency unlock, and WIL seats to reduce whiplash risk.
The Toyota Fortuner Neo Drive 48V and Legender Neo Drive 48V feature a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. This segment-first diesel hybrid SUV technology in India uses a belt-integrated starter generator and a lithium-ion battery to boost performance and fuel efficiency.

This hybrid assist system provides smoother low-end acceleration and quieter operation. Its regenerative braking significantly improves diesel mileage by capturing energy during deceleration.
