Volkswagen Ameo pre-booking commences with roadshow

Volkswagen India has initiated the pre-launch booking for the Ameo compact sedan in India through a 17-city road show.

Volkswagen has finally commenced pre-bookings of their new compact sedan called the Vokswagen Ameo in India.

The Volkswagen Ameo is based on the same internals as the Polo hatchback that is being sold currently in India. The sedan was showcased for the first time in New Delhi before being publically revealed to he public at the 13^th Auto Expo.

Volkswagen will offer the Ameo with the same engine options as the Polo hatchback. This will include the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder MPI petrol engine and the 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TDI diesel engine. Both engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, it is still unconfirmed if the Volkswagen will offer the Ameo with the automatic DSG gearbox, but it is likely as most competitors in the segment offer an automatic variant as well.

Similar to the Polo hatchback, the Volkswagen Ameo will get dual front airbags as standard fitment in addition to ABS. Volkswagen will also offer – a segment first – cruise control, rain sensing wipers and static cornering headlamps as well, in the Ameo.

To digitize the customer interface and facilitate the bookings, we are also launching a mobile application for the benefit of interested customers. Through the Ameo, we cater to the needs of discerning Indian customer, by introducing superior safety, build quality and drivability, in the dynamic compact sedan segment.”

Pre-launch booking of the Ameo can be made at all Volkswagen showrooms in India starting May 12, 2016. Volkswagen has also announced a pre-launch 17-city roadshow, displaying their “made in India and Made for India carline”, to the customers. The 17 cities include – Pune, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Surat, Jaipur, Delhi, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Cochin and Mumbai. Prospective customers will also be able to access details about the Ameo from the exclusive mobile application or the Volkswagen corporate website. The mobile application will be made available on android as well as iOS platforms. The road show will continue through to July 2, 2016.
