Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Variants Explained: Which One Should You Buy?

The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift is now available for purchase in India, with ex-showroom prices ranging between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 19.30 lakh. Post the update, the SUV has the same silhouette, but its design is now more in sync with Volkswagen’s global design philosophy. It features a refreshed grille with an integrated light bar, illuminated front and rear logos, new 17-inch alloy wheels, connected LED taillamps, revised bumpers, chrome door handles, silver roof rails, and welcome/goodbye lighting animations. Inside, the Taigun Facelift comes equipped with ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, a flat-bottom steering wheel with red accents, automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof and a 6-speaker audio system. The Taigun facelift is offered in multiple trims, including Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, GT Line, GT Plus Chrome, and GT Plus Sport.

Volkswagen Taigun Facelift: Engine

The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift continues to have the existing engine lineup, including a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol (113.4bhp/178Nm) and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol (148bhp/250Nm). However, Volkswagen has updated the transmission options, replacing the earlier 6-speed automatic on the 1.0 TSI with a new 8-speed automatic unit, alongside the standard manual gearbox, while the 1.5 TSI retains its 7-speed DSG transmission and now benefits from rear disc brakes on equipped variants.

The entry-level Comfortline is offered with the 1.0 TSI paired only with a manual gearbox, while the Highline, Highline Plus, Topline, and GT Line trims also use the 1.0 TSI engine but get both manual and automatic options. Meanwhile, the performance-focused GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport variants are exclusively powered by the 1.5 TSI engine. They come solely with the 7-speed DSG automatic.
