VW Tiguan Allspace delisted from India website

The standard-wheelbase Tiguan is making a comeback, although, the longer one, which is capable of seating seven, has likely been discontinued.

Days before the India launch of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the German carmaker has unlisted the Tiguan Allspace from its website. The Tiguan Allspace is a seven-seater full-size SUV which was available only with a petrol powertrain, however, with its discontinuation, Volkswagen India has lost its presence in the aforementioned segment.  However, that void will be soon filled by the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq, which will be launched in India by January 2022.

The Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor as the Tiguan Allspace, and there will be no diesel powertrain to choose from. An official price announcement of the 2022 Skoda Kodiaq facelift is expected by the first half of January 2022. Expect a sticker price to start close to the Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.

Interestingly, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has exited the market when there is an increased demand in the three-row MPV space. Jeep India will soon bring in its Meridian, which is essentially a three-row Compass. Kia India is readying a Seltos based seven-seater MPV called the ‘Carens’. However, the Carens is likely to be positioned in a segment lower which is more in line with the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the Mahindra XUV700.
