Bajaj Auto has achieved a significant milestone with its Chetak electric scooter, crossing 5 lakh unit sales since its launch in 2020. The company has sold a total of 5,10,000 scooters, including 2,06,366 units in just the past ten months. Bajaj links this achievement to strong customer demand for electric two-wheelers and its ability to maintain consistent production. The Chetak’s journey to this milestone has been steady. After being reintroduced in January 2020, the model took nearly four years to cross its first 1,00,000-unit mark in November 2023. Progress in the early years was slower due to supply constraints, particularly a shortage of rare earth magnets. This temporary disruption gave rivals, such as the TVS iQube, an opportunity to take the lead in the segment. However, Bajaj has since addressed these production hurdles and has shifted focus to meeting the rising demand with stable manufacturing.

To strengthen its presence in the electric two-wheeler market, Bajaj has also expanded the Chetak range and extended its retail network. The company now operates more than 3,800 outlets across India, which helps customers with both purchase and after-sales service. Bajaj considers this wide dealership and service footprint as a key contributor to Chetak’s rising popularity, ensuring easier accessibility and ownership experience for buyers across urban and semi-urban regions.

The current Chetak portfolio consists of four variants: 3001, 3501, 3502, and 3503. These models cater to a diverse set of users by offering different features and performance specifications. Buyers can choose from two battery packs: a 3 kWh unit or a 3.5 kWh option, depending on their commuting range requirements. Bajaj has priced the entry-level model at Rs 99,900 (ex-showroom), making it a competitive choice in the growing electric scooter market.
