Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has updated the price range of its well-known Tucson SUV. The model, offered with both a gasoline and a diesel powerplant, would now cost up to Rs 48,000 more following the latest price hike. In 2022, the SUV received a facelift with prices varying between Rs 27.7 lakh and Rs 34.39 lakh (ex-showroom). The fourth-gen car was introduced in two variants- Signature and Platinum. Two engine options are available for the same: a 2-litre diesel engine and a 2-litre petrol unit. If you are considering bringing home a brand-new Tucson, then you need to be aware of the most recent price changes. Going further into the details of the hike, the 2.0-litre diesel variant has received a price increase of up to Rs 48,000, while the petrol one will now be up to Rs 42,000 more expensive. Here are all the key details regarding the Tucson, including the design, rivals, features, as well as updated prices.

Hyundai Tucson: Design

Hyundai's 'Sensual Sportiness' design language, which is characterised by sharply cut surfaces, helps the Tucson have a drastically different look from its predecessor. A large dark chrome front grille with jewel-like embellishment that spans the width of the nose and incorporates the LED daytime running lamps is one of Tucson's standout features. The front bumper houses the primary headlights. It has a striking appearance from the side due to its prominent character lines, wide wheel arches, and body cladding. Outside rearview mirrors (ORVMs) to the D-pillar is the starting point of a satin chrome strip that runs above the windows. The SUV rolls on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Speaking of the rear profile, the Tucson has dual T-shaped LED taillights joined by an LED light bar. The rear bumper comes with a diamond-pattern finish and a faux silver skid plate. It also receives a roof spoiler, which conceals the rear washer and wiper. It is available in seven exterior colours, with the Signature variations being offered in a contrasting dual-tone shade.

Hyundai Tucson: Interior Features and Safety Suite

Piano black accents surround a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is elegantly integrated into the dashboard. It also boasts a free-standing 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and customised themes. Below the screen, stacked, are touch-sensitive HVAC controls. The automatic gear lever, a few physical buttons that operate the heated and ventilated front seats as well as other features, and the automatic gear lever are all located in the centre console.

The SUV is further packed with features like dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, 64-colour ambient lighting, 360-degree cameras, electric driver seat adjustment with memory function, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, reclining rear seats, Alexa and Google Assistant support, connected car features, powered tailgate, rain-sensing wipers, and voice commands.

For the uninitiated, the Tucson is the first Hyundai vehicle to be equipped with Level 2 ADAS technology, which offers security features including forward-collision warning, blind-spot assist, lane-keep assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), hill-descent control, six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and all-wheel disc brakes are further safety features.

Hyundai Tucson: Engine and Gearbox

Engine options for the new Tucson include 2.0-litre gasoline and diesel units which are now BS6 phase 2-compliant. The petrol one is a four-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that also drives the Alcazar. It has a 6-speed automated transmission and generates 154bhp and 192Nm of torque. In contrast, the 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 184bhp and 416Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed automated transmission. Although there is no manual transmission available, the top diesel version does have an all-wheel drive system with three different terrain modes - Snow, Mud, and Sand.

Hyundai Tucson: Market Rivals

The Tucson competes in the domestic market against the Jeep Compass, the Citroen C5 Aircoss, and the Volkswagen Tiguan, among others.
