One of the top automakers in the nation, Mahindra & Mahindra, announced that the Bolero, the popular SUV, has sold more than 1,00,000 units, marking a significant milestone for the vehicle. The company has sold over 14 lakh SUVs in India since the SUV's launch in 2000. The Mahindra Bolero has consistently been among the best-selling SUVs despite its age and is still a popular option. Particularly in semi-urban and rural areas of India, where it is highly favoured, its tough build, all-metal body, and go-anywhere appeal have helped to contribute to its popularity. Due to its straightforward engineering, it is simple to maintain and has widely accessible, reasonably priced spare parts. Mahindra has been a popular option with a larger customer base because it also offers a variety of body styles, such as the standard 7-seater, the under 4-metre variant, and the adaptable pick-up truck-style Maxi truck. Sharing his thoughts on the milestone, Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "With over 1.4 million sales in total, the Bolero has become more than just an SUV; it has become a household name in semi-urban and rural India. 1 lakh sales in FY 2023, a testament to the unwavering trust and loyalty of our cherished customers.”

Mahindra Bolero Neo: The Sales Driver

The homegrown carmaker recently debuted the Bolero Neo with a contemporary design while keeping the boxy structure to serve tier-1 and urban areas. The Mahindra Bolero's continual improvements over the past 20 years have also contributed significantly to its ranking as one of India's best-selling SUVs. "The Bolero Neo launched in July 2021 has successfully extended the Bolero SUV brand to new customer segments in tier 1 and urban markets," Nakra continued.

According to the company, the Bolero Neo was the primary factor in FY23's 1 lakh sales milestone. The company claims that the SUV has been successful in breaking into new markets and luring new customer demographics. The Bolero Neo, which has long been one of the company's most well-liked vehicles, has surpassed models like the Scorpio and the XUV700 in recent sales to become the brand's best-selling vehicle. In addition to the Bolero Neo, the Classic Bolero saw a 28 per cent increase in sales in FY 2023 compared to FY 2022.

Mahindra Bolero Neo: Price and Variants

With the BS6 Phase 2 update, all variants have a Rs 15,000 price increase, with the exception of the Limited Edition. As a result, the starting price for the Bolero Neo range is now Rs 9.63 lakh (ex-showroom). N4, N8, N10, and N10 (O) variants of the SUV are available. The costs for the Limited Edition remain the same. Along with the current variants, the Bolero Neo variant lineup is probably going to be updated. Four new variants of the SUV may be available: the N4 (O), N8 R, N10 (R), and N10 (O) (R).

Mahindra Bolero Neo: Engine and Gearbox

The available engine is a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder diesel unit that can generate 100bhp of maximum power and 260Nm of peak torque. Comparing the peak torque to that of the TUV300, an increase of 20Nm has been made. Mahindra has also improved the drivetrain by adding a few parts. An automatic mechanical differential lock is included with the N10 (O) variant's highest-spec model.
