Mahindra Scorpio N

Mahindra has raised the cost of its famous SUV—the Scorpio-N—in India. The price hike ranges from Rs 600 to Rs 39,300, depending on the variant. Models such as Z8L petrol MT 6S and Z8L diesel MT 2WD 6S have experienced the greatest price increase, whereas other variants, including Z8 diesel AT 4WD 7S, Z8L diesel MT 4WD 7S, Z8 diesel MT 4WD 7S, Z4 diesel MT 4WD 7S, and Z4 diesel MT 4WD 7S (ESP), saw a minor price hike of Rs 600. After the most recent price hike, the base Z2 petrol MT 7S variant of the Scorpio-N is now available for Rs 13.60 lakh, and the higher-spec Z8L diesel AT 4WD 7S variant is priced at Rs 24.54 lakh. Both are ex-showroom prices.

Mahindra's overall sales (which includes exports) grew by 6% to 60,188 units in December. The automaker delivered 36,349 units in all—which included exports—and 35,171 units domestically in the Utility Vehicles division, showing a remarkable 24% growth in sales. Let's explore the mechanical specifications of the Scopio-N and the company's other developments more comprehensively.

Mahindra Scorpio-N: Mechanical and Other Key Details

The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and the 2.2-litre diesel engine are the two powertrain options offered by the Mahindra for the Scorpio-N. In the entry-level versions, the diesel engine produces 300Nm and 130bhp. It can, however, produce up to 173bhp and 300–400Nm in the higher-spec variants. Meanwhile, the 2-litre turbo-petrol motor generates 197bhp and 370Nm/380 Nm of performance figures. The standard gearbox is a 6-speed manual, but some of the more powerful diesel and turbo-petrol units are also available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Although the SUV comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD), the 173bhp diesel model is available with a four-wheel drive (4WD) option.

The SUV has five core variants: Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L, and is available in two six-seater and seven-seater configurations. An 8-inch touchscreen, cruise control, an electric sunroof, a 12-speaker Sony 3D surround sound system, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ESC, hill-hold assist, and a 360-degree camera are among some features of the SUV.

A few new Mahindra vehicles will likely make their way to India this year. Here are some of the upcoming Mahindra cars in India:

Mahindra Thar 5-Door

The five-door Mahindra Thar is scheduled to go on sale this year. It will be available with the same powertrain options as its three-door predecessor, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. However, market reports suggest that Mahindra may adjust or upgrade these engines to boost output. The SUV will most likely be available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations. Modifications like a 10-inch touchscreen, a refreshed armrest, a reworked steering wheel, and speakers mounted on the roof are expected to be included.

Mahindra XUV.e8

This year, the Mahindra XUV.e8, the brand's brand-new electric SUV, will also make its way to the Indian market. It will have the company's INGLO platform, which can deliver up to 175kW of fast charging. Although the exact specifications remain unknown, the car is said to have a wheelbase of 2,762mm and a length of around 4,740mm. More specific details about the car will likely be disclosed closer to its launch.
