Mahindra Thar Attracts Discounts of up to Rs 65,000 in April 2023

A few Mahindra dealerships are offering a range of benefits on the Thar this month in India. These benefits include both cash discounts and exchange bonuses. In March 2023, the Thar reached a production milestone of 1 lakh units. Mahindra believes that the growing popularity of the vehicle among Indian buyers has contributed to the achievement. The Mahindra Thar is accessible in two variants: AX(O) and LX. According to reports, the automaker is preparing to add a new model to the Thar portfolio. Currently, there is no official confirmation, but according to market reports, the upcoming new entry-level Thar 4x4 variant will likely be known as AX AC. The entry-level model will reportedly lack features seen in the AX (O) trim. Meanwhile, the Thar attracts discounts of up to Rs 65,000 in April. Let's have a look at the offers eligible on the Thar in the country. 

Mahindra Thar: Discounts (April)

The Mahindra Thar 4x4 petrol automatic model is eligible for a cash discount of Rs 40,000. It is also available with an exchange bonus of Rs 25,000 in our market. The exchange incentive is also offered by select Mahindra dealerships on a few other models, with regional variations.

Mahindra Thar: Mechanical Details 

Talking about the engine, the 2-litre turbo-petrol engine, producing 148bhp and 320Nm, and the 2.2-litre diesel unit, delivering 128bhp and 300Nm, both mated with a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission, are available in the 4WD versions of the off-road SUV. The smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine, capable of generating 116bhp and 300Nm, is only available in the RWD models and comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The turbo-petrol engine has a six-speed automatic transmission only.

Mahindra Thar: Features

Feature-wise, the Thar has a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has steering-mounted controls, electrically controlled AC, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, and cruise control. Mahindra has also added removable roof panels and a washable interior floor in the Thar. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, traction control, rear parking sensors, and a front seat belt reminder are all included in the safety features of the model.

Mahindra Thar: Recent Price Hike 

In other news, Mahindra raised the cost of the Thar by up to Rs 1.05 lakh in India. According to the market speculations, BS6 2.0 updates have presumably contributed to the increased prices. In our market, the Mahindra Thar LX Hard Top Diesel MT RWD model has received a major price hike. It has become expensive in the country by up to Rs 1.05 lakh. The AX (O) Hard Top Diesel MT RWD variant gets a price hike of Rs 55,000. Mahindra has increased the prices of all other variants by the same amount, Rs 28,200. The base price of Thar, which is Rs 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), has not changed. Meanwhile, the higher-spec LX Hard Top Diesel AT 4WD trim currently costs Rs 16.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
