Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will increase the prices of its Arena and Nexa models from January 1, 2025. The hike in prices will be restricted to a maximum of 4 per cent, depending on the model; having said that, Maruti Suzuki has yet to reveal the price increase for each model. The reasons cited for the price revision are the rising operational and input costs.

Maruti Suzuki isn't the only OEM (original equipment manufacturer) that will put a higher price tag on its models. Come January 2025, Mahindra, MG Motor India, Mini India, Hyundai, Nissan, BMW India and others will hike prices for their models. Maruti Suzuki's current range includes the Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Wagon R, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno, Swift, Fronx, Brezza, XL6, Jimny, Dzire, and the Ciaz. The Alto K10 is the company's most affordable product at the moment, with prices starting at Rs 3.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). While the eVX, Maruti Suzuki's first electric vehicle, is set to debut in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the new-generation Dzire sedan was introduced nearly a month ago.

The latter is the first 5-star GNCAP-rated Maruti Suzuki. Safety equipment on the latest Dzire includes electronic safety programme (ESP), hill hold assist, brake assist, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, and six airbags.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire is 3,995mm long, 1,735mm wide and 1,525mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,460mm. It features a fresh design – a complete departure from the old one – and comes in four variants (LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+). A new 1.2-litre Z Series naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, which can be paired with either a five-speed manual or AMT transmission, powers the sedan. The engine develops 80bhp and 112Nm of peak torque in the petrol mode. Additionally, a CNG option is available on select variants, producing 68bhp and 102Nm. In terms of mileage, the manual version is rated at 24.79km/l, while the automatic variant offers 25.71km/l. The CNG model is certified to deliver 33.73km/kg.
