Ratan N. Tata, the former chairman of the Tata Group, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2024, at the age of 86. He had been facing an undisclosed illness and had released a statement on October 7 to address concerns about his health. Born on December 28, 1937, Tata was a giant in Indian industry, leading the Tata Group to remarkable success. His leadership transformed the conglomerate into a global powerhouse, with interests in sectors like automobiles, steel, hospitality, and technology. Under his guidance, Tata Motors changed India's automotive landscape by introducing affordable cars that made personal mobility available to millions. His innovative spirit and commitment to social responsibility earned him great respect in India and around the world. News of his passing has brought deep sorrow across the nation, with tributes pouring in from industry leaders, politicians, and many admirers, all recognizing his significant contributions to India's economic growth and his legacy of philanthropy and compassion.

In a statement, Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran said, "It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very For the Tata Group, he was a mentor and friend. The Group under his stewardship expanded its global footprint while always remaining true to its moral compass."

Ratan N. Tata was a major figure in Indian business, leading the Tata Group from 1991 to 2012 with remarkable vision. He turned the company from a local leader into a global force, expanding its influence through strategic acquisitions like Jaguar Land Rover, Corus, and Tetley Tea.
