Mahindra recently significantly restructured the Thar's variant range, trimming it down from 19 to just 11 options in an effort to simplify its portfolio. This move includes the removal of several models, most notably the LX convertible variants and the AX and LX 4WD versions with open differentials. Of the discontinued trims, two were petrol-powered while the remaining six ran on diesel. It’s worth noting that these changes are limited to the 4WD lineup—no revisions have been made to the RWD variants. The updated Thar range now features just one AX variant—the AX(O) 1.5-litre diesel hard top in RWD guise. Even after cutting down the options, the Thar’s price hasn’t changed, ranging between Rs 11.50 and Rs 17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
