Tata Motors Tata Ev Logo

Tata Motors has unveiled a brand-new logo for its lineup of electric vehicles in India. The company has not yet said when the emblem will be used, but it is likely to appear on its electric vehicles within a few months. Tata's new logo is the company's traditional emblem with the letter 'ev' added to one side. The circle around it is meant to symbolise "a circular ecosystem of human and environmental interaction," as the company puts it. The maker believes the new layout uses less ink while also using a black backdrop instead of a colourful one to cut down on energy costs, all of which were mentioned as justifications for the change. Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV are the three electric vehicles that Tata Motors is currently selling in India. Tata Motors just hit a milestone of selling one million electric vehicles in India.

Why Tata Motors Introduced a New Brand?

According to Tata Motors, there was a clear need for a new consumer-facing brand identity that strengthens commitment to the future of mobility, and so TATA.ev was born as the EV offering expands and customers envision an unforgettable experience across every interaction, from the brand to the product and its ownership period.

Commenting on the new brand identity, Mr Vivek Srivatsa, Head of Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “We are entering a new era with TATA.ev. Our new brand identity for electric vehicles underlines our commitment to accelerate the adoption of clean energy mobility solutions. We intend to drive positive change in the automotive industry with the focus on sustainability, community, and technology. Both the products and services are intended to create highly differentiated and meaningful consumer experiences. The brand personality is humane, honest, invigorating, and conversational – a rallying point for those curious about having a better impact on the world.”

Tata EV Sales in India

With over 1 lakh units sold, Tata Motors has further solidified its position as the dominant player in India's growing electric car market. In only 5 years, the Indian automaker sold more than 1 lakh electric vehicles. Tata Motors estimates that it sold 10,000 units over the course of 44 months, 40,000 EVs over the course of 15 months, and the remaining 50,000 units during the course of the past 9 months.

With the Tiago EV being the best-seller in India within a year of its debut in September 2022, Tata credits the Tiago EV, the Tigor EV, and the Nexon EV for its sales surge. Since Tata Motors began delivering the Tiago EV to consumers in January of 2023, more than 19,000 units have been delivered.

The Indian automaker also intends to introduce four electric SUVs by the start of 2024. These are the updated Nexon EV, the Punch EV, the Harrier EV, and the Curvv EV. The company claims that during the following several quarters, the Tata Motors PV division will get these new electric cars. These three will be introduced in the first quarter of the next fiscal year, while the refreshed Nexon EV will debut on September 14, 2023.
