Tata Motors Total YoY Sales Fall 1.4% in July; EVs Sales Increase by 53%

Tata Motors has disclosed its sales numbers for July 2023. In the previous month, the carmaker sold 80,633 vehicles (domestic + foreign), compared to the 81,790 units at the same time in July 2022, which gave it a YoY decline of 1.4%.

With the onset of August, Tata Motors disclosed its sales numbers for the previous month. In July 2023, the automaker sold 80,633 vehicles (domestic + foreign), which is less than the 81,790 units it shipped in the same month the year before. The company further announced total domestic sales of 78,844 units in July of this year, which is a decrease from the 78,978 units sold in the same month in 2022. In the PV segment, the total sales, including electric vehicles stood at 47,689 units in July 2023, representing a slight rise over the 47,636 units delivered in the same month the previous year. In contrast to total PV shipments, domestic passenger car sales increased by just 0.26% YoY to 47,628 units in July 2023, a jump of just 123 vehicles over the 47,505 units sold in July 2022. However, the automaker's electric vehicle range experienced a 53% increase in sales (domestic + export) to 6,329 units the month before from 4,151 units shipped in July 2022.

Tata Motors July Sales: Commercial Vehicles 

According to the official press statement, the automaker's sales in the commercial vehicle market decreased by 4% to 32,944 units in July 2023 from 34,154 vehicles delivered in July 2022. While ILMCV Truck sales declined 11% year-over-year to 4,899 units from 5,524 units in July 2022, HCV sales grew 14% year-over-year to 8,504 units in July 2023 from 7,473 vehicles sold in the same time in 2022.

In the last month, the YoY sales of passenger carriers surged by 24% to 4,292 units from 3,454 units sold in July 2022. In contrast, the shipments of SCV cargo and pickup vehicles dipped by 10% YoY to 12,523 units in the previous month from 15,022 units dispatched in July 2022. Additionally, the number of commercial vehicle exports reduced by 36% to 1,728 units in July 2023 from 2,681 units shipped in the same month the last year.

Coming to the total CV sales in the domestic arena, the automaker sold 31,216 vehicles in July this year, compared to 31,473 units sold in July 2022, representing a YoY decline of 1%

However, it is important to keep in mind that these offers are only valid for the state of Kerala.
