Lando Norris gave British fans a race to remember by clinching his first-ever home victory at the British Grand Prix. In front of a roaring crowd at a rain-soaked Silverstone, the McLaren driver put on a brilliant display of wet-weather skill and strategy. It was a landmark win, his first on home soil and a big step forward in his rising Formula 1 career, as he now mounts a serious challenge for the Drivers’ Championship, currently led by teammate Oscar Piastri.

Oscar Piastri was set to win the British GP race after a strong drive that saw him pass Max Verstappen early on. But a 10-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement ruined his chances. He still finished second and held onto the championship lead, but Norris is now breathing down his neck, just eight points behind after winning two races in a row. There was a surprise on the podium too, Nico Hulkenberg. The experienced German made the most of the tricky conditions to finish third for Sauber.

Max Verstappen’s race didn’t go to plan. A spin early on in the damp track dropped him down the order, but he fought hard to finish fifth. Pierre Gasly grabbed sixth from Lance Stroll in a last-lap move, and Alex Albon quietly impressed again, scoring more points for Williams with eighth place. Fernando Alonso finished 9th, just ahead of Mercedes' George Russel.
