Marc Marquez is set to make a significant change in his racing career as he joins the Gresini Racing team for the 2024 season. This development follows the official confirmation of his departure from Honda at the end of the current year. Even though the eight-time world champion was signed with Honda through the 2019 season, the two sides came to an amicable agreement last week to end their partnership. The 11-year collaboration between Marquez and Honda, during which he won all six of his premier class titles, has officially come to an end. Despite Honda's best efforts, rumours of a possible partnership between Marquez and Gresini persisted for quite some time. To improve their motorcycle's performance, Honda launched an effort to look for European engineering talent, but their efforts were ineffective. Marquez's move to the Gresini team was anticipated after Honda's announcement. However, the Ducati satellite squad kept the news of the Spaniard's hiring under wraps until Thursday, when they officially confirmed it.

Marc Marquez, who is considered to be among the best MotoGP racers on the grid, is set to join a satellite team that has established itself among the elite and reawakened its glory as an independent powerhouse in the premier class.

This pairing of two formidable Marquez talents sets the stage for an exhilarating chapter in MotoGP history. As this satellite team continues to prove its worth among the best, the presence of the Marquez brothers adds another layer of intrigue to an already thrilling season.

Marc Marquez: “I’m excited about this new challenge. It wasn’t an easy decision because it’s a big change in every way. But sometimes in life, it’s important to get out of your comfort zone and put yourself through the paces in order to keep growing. Bike-chance-wise, I know I will have to adapt my riding style to a few things, and it won’t be easy. But I’m also sure that the whole Team Gresini will help me a lot. I can’t wait to get to know the team and start working with them. I’d like to thank Nadia, Carlo, and Michele for the trust and respect they showed me."

Nadia Padovani, Gresini Racing Team Owner, said, “This is a historical moment for the Gresini Family. The fact that Marc Marquez chose to race with us in the upcoming season is absolutely fantastic and I’m extremely happy to be able to make it official. In less than a season we got really close to his brother, and we’ll welcome Marc the same way, as we’re sure he has all the potential to be competitive on the GP23 from the get-go. Last but not least, I would like to thank Fabio Di Giannantonio for his professionalism, and we wish him all the best for the continuation of his career.”

MotoGP Gresini Racing

The MotoGP team Gresini Racing has a long and storied history in motorsports. The team is the brainchild of the late Fausto Gresini, a two-time 125cc World Champion. Gresini laid the team's foundation back in 1997.

While working with Honda, the team achieved a remarkable 14 victories between 2002 and 2006. After that, from 2015 to 2021, Gresini took on a new chapter in its illustrious history by receiving direct factory support from Aprilia.

A historic partnership was formed in 2022 when Ducati and Enea Bastianini became part of the Gresini organisation. Bastianini's dominant performance, which included four race victories and a respectable third-place finish in the world championship, was emblematic of the partnership's fruitful results. Bastianini's stellar performance earned him a spot on the prestigious factory Ducati team.
