Alpine is heading back to the rally stage, but this time with electric power. The new A290 Rallye isn’t just a car—it’s a celebration of Alpine’s 70-year journey. Built on the A290 road car, it’s designed to handle dirt, snow, and gravel just like the legendary rally cars of the 1960s and ’70s. Underneath, the A290 Rallye sticks to FIA’s eRally5 rules, keeping a stock motor, inverter, and battery. But Alpine has added its own touch, a 217bhp electric motor producing 300Nm of torque, front-wheel drive, a ZF limited-slip differential, and rally-tuned suspension from ALP Racing. It’s built to race but still connects to its production car roots, making it accessible for new rally drivers stepping into the electric age.

Back in 1973, Alpine’s A110 clinched the first-ever World Rally Championship for manufacturers. Today, the A290 Rallye picks up that legacy and takes it electric. It’ll debut in a one-make rally series in France before entering broader competition.

Adding to the fun, the A290 Rallye comes with a sound system that reacts to speed and throttle input. It gives drivers a sense of engine feedback—something electric cars often miss. Paired with the tuned suspension and powertrain, it promises an experience that’s both modern and emotionally engaging.
