Ducati Panigale V4 Highlights
The Ducati Panigale V4's BS6 iteration has finally been introduced, and it's a true performance powerhouse. The new platform by the Italians replaces the outgoing twin platform of the Panigale and receives a long list of updates and features. The latest iteration of the flagship supersport is one of the fastest motorcycles money can buy in the Indian market. So, what makes this flagship Ducati so much more special? Read on to find out.
The latest Ducati Panigale V4 features significant design and functional updates. The BS6 Ducati Panigale gets a new aerodynamic package for more downforce on higher speeds including the winglets that are now standard on the base Ducati. Other updates to the bike include a chain guard fin, heated grips, and self-bleeding hydraulic pumps. The bike otherwise mostly features the same muscular and beefy fairing design initially introduced in the V4.
Engine & Transmission
The latest Ducati Panigale V4 gets a 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4, liquid-cooled engine, made BS6 emissions compliant. The powerplant is capable of 211bhp of power at 13000rpm and 124Nm of peak torque at 9500rpm. This engine gets a six-speed gearbox that has an up and down quick shifter as standard. The BS6 variant gets a bigger catalyst that helps avoid any loss of power with BS6 emissions. Owners even have the option of adding a racing kit (for the track) that features an Akrapovic exhaust and an engine remap, using which the power can go up to 226hp. The bike also gets a horde of MotoGP technology, including a counter-rotating crankshaft. The crankshaft helps in putting down more torque and reducing the bike's tendency to power wheelie. Other than that, the bike gets a detailed electronic suite for safety.
Handling duties in the Ducati Panigale V4 are slightly different for its two variants. The standard variant of the bike gets Showa front forks and a Sachs rear mono-shock suspension. However, the S variant gets semi-automatic Ohlins NIX-30 forks, Ohlins TTX36 rear shock absorber and further support with an Ohlins steering damper. All that power needs good stopping capabilities and Ducati has that covered. The bike gets top of the line Brembo Stylema monobloc callipers with double 330mm discs and 4-piston callipers. For braking on the rear, there is a 245mm single disc with 2-piston callipers. For safety, the flagship Ducati gets ABS, wheelie control, traction control, launch control, slide control, and engine brake control.
The Ducati Panigale V4 is loaded to the brim with active and passive features and borrows technology heavily from its track-spec MotoGP counterparts. The bike gets LED headlights complete with iconic Ducati DRLs and to control the detailed six-axis IMU, the bike gets a five-inch digital colour TFT screen display. Features include Bosch's cornering ABS system, safety features such as traction control, wheelie control, and slide control. The bike also gets interesting features such as brake to slide, where the rear brake can be played with to intentionally slide out the rear of the bike. Other features in the Ducati Panigale V4 include a standard up and down quick shifter and launch control. The new variant also gets new riding modes called Race A and Race B.
Price & Variants
Thanks to the tweaks and changes in the latest variant of the Ducati Panigale V4, the bike is now priced differently than its outgoing BS4 variant. The flagship Ducati gets two variants in India at the moment. The base variant Ducati Panigale V4 starts at ₹23.5 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) and the Ducati Panigale V4 S starts at ₹28.4 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). In India currently, the Ducati Panigale V4 gets a singular colour scheme - Ducati Red. Visit autoX's price section for the 2021 Ducati Panigale V4's on-road price and more information.
