Ducati Scrambler Icon Highlights
The Ducati Scrambler Icon – a neo-retro model from the Italian manufacturer – pays homage to the original 1962 Ducati Scrambler. Despite being an entry-level offering from Ducati, it doesn’t miss out on easy rideability or even the fun-to-ride factor of its predecessor.
About the design, the Icon is a complete head-turner, and what adds to this head-turning design is the 62’ Yellow shade – available with only the Standard trim – along with a brushed aluminium finish on the fuel tank, 10-spoke alloy wheels finished in black and a circular retro headlamp with an LED DRL embedded on the border.
The Scrambler Icon has a lot going for it, with its overall styling and design. The 2021 Scrambler Icon is virtually identical to the older model and this does surface in its dimensions, as it is 2,100mm in length, 855mm in width and 1,150mm in height. The brushed aluminium fuel tank has a capacity of 13.5-litres.
Engine & Transmission
The Ducati Scrambler Icon features an 803cc L-twin BS-VI approved motor that remains the same as the pre-facelift model, churning out 71.8bhp and 66.2Nm of torque. The figures might not be something to drool over, but the engine is smooth for usual traffic situations as well as enthusiastic riding. The L-twin unit is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox and the new hydraulically controlled slipper clutch makes shifting a lot easier compared to the previous model. As for the efficiency, the Ducati Scrambler Icon mileage of 20km/l is comparable to its siblings.
Handling is another thing we liked about the older Scrambler Icon in our full review. The Icon makes for a sharp and precise handler and throwing it around corners is another fascinating experience. The suspension setup is on point thanks to the upside-down telescopic forks at the front and a preload-adjustable shock setup at the rear. The bike is built around a steel trellis frame and the 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with a 110/80 R18 tyre at the front and a 180/55 R17 tyre at the back. The brakes have a good response too, thanks to a 330mm disc at the front and a 245mm disc at the rear.
The Ducati Scrambler Icon new model does the job with a circular full digital instrument cluster, which shows a fuel gauge, temperature meter, and a gear shift indicator. The electricals constitute a halogen headlamp with an embedded LED DRL at the front and an LED tail lamp at the rear. On the safety front, the cornering ABS does inspire confidence by calculating the bike’s lean angle to offer optimum stopping power.
Price & Variants
The Ducati Scrambler Icon comes in two variants. The Ducati Scrambler Icon price (as of early-2021) is ₹7.99 lakh for the Dark variant and ₹8.49 lakh for the Standard variant.
