<p>Ducati has launched the new Streetfighter V4 SP in India at Rs 34.99 lakh (ex-showroom). SP aka Sports Production in Ducati lingo means a production motorcycle with specific technical equipment that is aimed at making it faster on the racetrack.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The V4 SP comes as the lighter version of the Streetfighter V4 S, tipping the scales at 196.5kg (kerb), which is less by 2.5kg. Ducati achieved this by using lighter components. However, interestingly, the motorcycle does not get carbon rims as we saw on the models abroad. Instead, the Streetfighter V4 SP for India comes with Marchesini forged magnesium wheels. This pair is &nbsp;0.9kg lighter than the forged aluminium wheels on the Streetfighter V4 SP.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ducati/">Ducati </a>has claimed that the use of lighter wheels has helped reduce inertia by 26% at the front and 46% at the rear, thereby making the motorcycle easy to manoeuvre. Apart from that, the company has also made use of a lithium-ion battery, carbon-fibre heel guard and anodised aluminium footpegs to reduce the weight further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In terms of design, the motorcycle is largely similar to the standard <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ducati/streetfighter-v4/">Streetfighter V4</a>, except for a carbon-fibre mudguard. The new V4 SP is painted in the special Ducati Corse Winter test colours. The motorcycle also gets matt carbon bi-plane wings that are painted in Italian tricolour. <p>The V4 SP is built on the same chassis as the V4 S. It gets the same Ohlins Smart EC 2.0 electronic suspension. Ducati has launched the new Streetfighter V4 SP in India, priced at Rs 34.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new motorcycle comes with better track credentials with lesser weight and new colour options.

<p>The United States homologation reports hint at Ducati prepping a lightweight version of the Streetfighter V4. The new variant will be the range-topping Streetfighter V4 SP that will get a similar treatment as the Panigale V4 SP.</p>

<p>The homologation reports also reveal that the street-naked superbike will continue with the same 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine. With that, we believe the power rating of 205bhp at 13,000rpm and 123Nm of torque at 9,500rpm will stay the same as the standard motorcycle. But this time, Ducati is likely to use a wet clutch assembly over the standard dry clutch unit – just like the Panigale V4 SP.</p>

<p>Most of the updates will be in the body&nbsp;and chassis department. The Streetfighter V4 SP is likely to be lighter by 2 kg than the V4 S variant that tips the scale at 178kg (dry).</p>

<p>The V4 gets Showa Big Piston Fork at the front and a Sachs monoshock at the rear – both of them are fully adjustable. There is a Sachs steering damper is on offer too. The (higher) V4 S, on the other hand, gets Ohlins electronic suspensions, an Ohlins steering damper, and lighter forged aluminium Marchesini wheels, which bring down the kerb weight to 199kg. For braking, both the motorcycles use Stylema Monobloc callipers with twin 330mm discs setup at the front and a 245mm disc and a two-piston calliper at the rear.</p>

There isn’t much to hide though, as the Streetfighter looks quite&nbsp;exotic and lives up the usual standards set by other bikes from Bologna. The design is almost identical to the Panigale V4 – minus the fairing, of course – but this one gets a higher and wider handlebar. It also has aerodynamic wings to keep the front-end planted and keep everything under control when the rider exploits that manic V4 motor.</p>

<p>The Streetfighter V4 will come powered by the same 1,103cc V4 as its faired sibling. However, compared to the Panigale, the Streetfighter’s motor is expected to be re-tuned for better low-and mid-range performance, since it’s a street bike. The power output is expected to be around 180bhp – as opposed to 211bhp of the Panigale V4 – while the peak torque may get some significant bump from 124Nm. Like the Panigale V4, expect the Streetfighter to come loaded with all the modern rider aids and electronics.</p>

<p>When launched, the Ducati Streetfighter V4 will lock horns with the likes of the Aprilia Tuono 1100 and others. The Streetfighter V4 is going to go on sale in global markets in early 2019, so expect it to arrive on our shores soon after.</p>

Ducati Streetfighter V4 confirmed

The naked version of the Ducati Panigale V4 is called the Streetfighter V4 and it'll go on sale in early 2019. The Streetfighter V4 will share its engine and components with the fully-faired superbike, and will challenge the likes of the Aprilia Tuono 1100.
