    Hero MotoCorp seems to be on a roll, turning its concepts from EICMA 2024 into reality. Hot on the heels of the Xoom 160 comes the Xtreme 250R. It is touted as the quickest machine in its class. With its bold, aggressive styling, it certainly grabs attention, but does its performance back it up?</p>

<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Design &amp; Styling: Italian Flair?</h2>

<p>Let’s talk design first – well, because, frankly, it’s impossible to ignore. While the styling is a bit polarising, personally, I’m quite taken by its sharp, aggressive lines. During our ride in Udaipur, it drew plenty of attention – some admiring, others possibly bewildered. There’s a clear hint of Italian streetfighter flair here, particularly in the pointed front end housing the LED projector headlamp, the muscular tank shrouds flanking the sculpted fuel tank, and the stubby, minimalist tail section. Viewed head-on, it has a bit of a Ducati-esque appearance.</p><p>

The 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels complement the overall design very well, especially in the striking colour scheme you see on these pages. That said, it’s not without its flaws. For instance, the integrated saree guard and front number plate holder feels bulky and detracts from its otherwise sleek profile – while the bike looks cleaner without it, it’s neither legal nor practical.</p>







<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Features &amp; Tech: Tech Savvy?</h2>

<p>For its segment, the Xtreme 250R is reasonably equipped. A standout feature is the Class-D LED projector headlamp, which has proven quite effective in previous models like the Xpulse 200 4V. LED indicators are standard, and the emergency stop signal – which activates the hazard light during hard braking – is a thoughtful safety addition. The bike also features switchable dual-channel ABS with two selectable modes – Road and Race – offering added flexibility.</p><p>

While it does the job well, it lacks the premium feel of the TFT displays found on some key rivals, such as the KTM 250 Duke. At this price point, a TFT display would have significantly enhanced its appeal.</p>







<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Comfort &amp; Ergonomics: Comfort Zone?</h2>

<p>Ergonomically, the Xtreme 250R is quite accessible. Its wide handlebar and 806mm seat height provide a comfortable, upright riding posture, which is good for city riding and should be manageable for most riders. The seat is well-contoured, offering decent comfort. The bike is also good in terms of practicality – its 167mm of ground clearance is quite sufficient for uneven or broken roads.</p><p>

    </p><p>That said, the neutral footpeg position and upright stance make it a bit challenging to fully tuck in or grip the bike during more spirited riding. While it’s great for daily commuting, it slightly detracts from the aggressive riding experience. On the upside, the wide handlebars offer excellent leverage, making quick steering inputs fairly easy.</p>



<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Performance &amp; Handling: Go vs Show?</h2>

<p>Now, let’s talk about the heart of the matter: performance and handling. The Xtreme 250R is powered by a relatively new 250cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, which is essentially a stroked version of the 210cc unit from the Karizma. Hero claims outputs of 29.5bhp at 9,250rpm and 25Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. With a 12:1 compression ratio and that peak power figure, it’s clear that it is a top-end focused motor – and that’s exactly how it feels on the road.</p><p>

<p>That’s not to say that it’s completely gutless lower down. There’s a healthy, usable mid-range, which makes city commuting and overtaking quite easy. But to truly tap into its performance, you really need to wring its neck and keep the revs high. It thrives when pushed, which makes it quite engaging around twisty roads.</p><p>However, this high-revving nature comes at a cost. Vibrations creep in as the revs climb, particularly through the handlebars and footpegs. During the test, while riding spiritedly, I often found myself short-shifting out of mechanical sympathy, hesitant to constantly wring it out. If you prefer an engine you can thrash, this might not be it. </p>

<p>Hero claims that the Xtreme 250R is the fastest in its class (0 – 60 km/h and 0 – 100 km/h). While it’s yet to be verified with proper testing equipment, my seat-of-the-pants impressions suggest that it’s a brisk and eager performer, especially once you’re past the mid-range.</p><p>

Whether you’re weaving through city traffic or carving up a twisty mountain road, it responds eagerly to inputs and holds its line with reassuring confidence. The suspension strikes a commendable balance – it’s firm enough for sporty riding and yet compliant enough to handle rough roads.</p>

<h2>Hero Xtreme 250R Verdict: Should You Buy This New 250cc Streetfighter?</h2>

<p>The Hero Xtreme 250R is a strong contender in the 250cc segment. With its sharp styling, agile handling, and decent feature list, it offers a well-rounded package for riders seeking a sporty yet practical machine. The engine offers solid performance, especially in the top end, though it’s not the smoothest engine out there. Still, it is an agile, sporty streetfighter, which is also comfortable enough for daily use.</p>

<p>While the LCD screen feels a bit dated compared to what some of its rivals offer, the overall package, especially the bike’s dynamic ability, is quite compelling. So, if you prefer sharp aesthetics, agile handling, and an engine that rewards spirited riding, the Xtreme 250R is well worth considering.</p><p>

‘X’ in its name. It now comes with an all-LED lighting setup, featuring a

uncomfortable over time. Hero would do well to introduce a more supportive seat
on this bike. In terms of design, the only weak point is the rear tyre – it appears a bit too skinny, given how broad the bike is towards the rear. On the plus side,
overall fit and finish levels are solid.</p>
<h2>Hero Glamour X Review: Engine Performance, Ride &amp; Mileage <br></h2>
<p><span>While
the design changes and tech features may grab the spotlight, the Glamour X’s engine, in my view, is its strongest aspect. Borrowed from the Xtreme 125R, the engine produces 1bhp more than that of the standard Glamour. While it feels peppy at city
speeds, it doesn’t quite have the top-end punch to be a highway hero.
Refinement levels are impressive, with only the faintest trace of vibration
creeping in at higher revs. Like the Xtreme 125R, the Glamour X also comes with
a kick-start feature – a refreshingly practical touch in a modern commuter.</span></p>

<p>The suspension setup is surprisingly on the stiffer side. You feel
most of the undulations, and even with a pillion on the back, the damping
doesn’t improve much. While the front forks are decent, the twin rear springs
are noticeably firm.</p>
<p>While Hero claims a mileage of 65km/l, I managed to squeeze
out 75 km/l during our test ride. This was after covering 100km on the bike and
using all three ride modes in almost equal measure. But then, I did most of
the riding on the highway during the early hours, which meant I didn't encounter heavy traffic.
That said, I did push the bike hard, testing its acceleration and top-end
performance in each mode. So, even if you’re riding through traffic-laden city
roads, you should still see figures close to the company’s claim, which is quite
impressive.</p>
<h2>Hero Glamour X Review: Features <br></h2>
<p>The most talked-about feature of the Glamour X is cruise
control, and for obvious reasons. To be honest, it doesn’t make much sense to have
cruise control on a commuter motorcycle that can barely manage highway speeds.
Add to that the fact that two-wheelers aren’t allowed on many expressways in
India – the very roads where cruise control would be most useful – and the
feature begins to feel somewhat out of place.</p><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

its debut on the Glamour X, it’s likely only a matter of time before Hero
introduces it on larger bikes, where it would be more practical. As for
functionality, it’s simple enough to engage via a switch on the right side of
the handlebars. However, I did notice the system struggling to hold a perfectly
steady pace – the speed would fluctuate by about 2 – 3 km/h on either side of
the set limit.</p>

<p>Another highlight of the Glamour X is its ride-by-wire
system, which offers three ride modes – Eco, Road, and Power. The bike’s
response noticeably changes across these modes. In Eco, acceleration is
understandably gentler, and the bike feels somewhat restrained. What stands out
in this mode is the smoother throttle response compared to the more abrupt,
almost on / off feel of the other two modes. The head nod you experience in
Road and Power modes can become a bit annoying over time, and that’s something Hero needs to address.</p>

<p>To get all the new gadgets, you’ll need to opt for the disc
variant of the Glamour X, priced at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). The lower drum
variant costs Rs 10,000 less but misses out on several key features, including
LED lighting, panic brake alert, and, of course, cruise control. For the money,
the disc variant offers far better value, making the drum version a bit pointless.</p>

The forthcoming Vida Z variant, however, is expected to feature a fixed battery setup rather than the swappable units seen on the V1. This battery will likely be smaller in capacity, delivering an estimated range of up to 90 km. The electric motor, too, is expected to be slightly less powerful, with an output projected below 5.36bhp. Hero’s present EV lineup includes the V2 Lite, V2 Plus, and V2 Pro, but the upcoming models will likely sit below these in the pecking order, targeting cost-conscious buyers and widening the brand’s market reach.</p><p> While prices for the existing Vida scooters range from Rs 74,000 to Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom), the new offerings are expected to arrive with an even more accessible price tag. <br></p><h2>Hero MotoCorp Sales Figures: April 2025&nbsp;</h2><p>Hero MotoCorp saw a notable decline in its overall two-wheeler performance in April 2025. The company dispatched approximately 3.05 lakh units during the month, reflecting a sharp 42.76% drop compared to 5.34 lakh units in April 2024. The month-on-month numbers were also discouraging, with March 2025 reporting around 5.50 lakh units – a 44.43% decrease. However, VAHAN data paints a slightly different picture, recording 5.05 lakh internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle registrations under Hero’s name for the same period. On the domestic front, sales stood at over 2.88 lakh units – a 43.79% year-on-year decline and 43.44% lower than the previous month.<br><br>Motorcycles remained the brand’s volume mainstay, though sales dropped to 2.86 lakh units, down 42.38% YoY and 43.53% MoM. Scooter volumes fell even more sharply to 19,317 units, representing a 47.85% drop from April 2024 and a 55.04% dip from March 2025. The VIDA V2 electric scooter achieved 7,116 retail units in April 2025, with VAHAN registering 6,123 units. This upward trend suggests growing traction for Hero’s EV portfolio amid an otherwise subdued market.<br></p>

<p><em><strong>Hero’s affordable and lightweight adventure motorcycle has finally hit the showrooms. But was it worth the wait?</strong></em></p>

<p>When Hero showcased the Xpulse concept at EICMA 2017, it catapulted most of us into a state of extreme excitement and anticipation. And, later, at the 2018 Auto Expo, when Hero confirmed that it’s certainly going into production, it only added to the intensity our excitement. But, then, for over a year, Hero went quiet – causing us to get anxious. However, they’ve finally got their act together – their lightweight and affordable off-roader, the Hero Xpulse 200, has now finally become a production reality. In fact, as if to compensate the long and tedious wait, Hero has launched not one but two derivatives of the Xpulse.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So, is the wait justified? Does the Xpulse make a case for the idea that ‘good things come to those who wait’? Or is it simply an example of being ‘too little, too late’? Let’s find out…</p>

<p><strong>Bare bones&nbsp;</strong><br />
Although the Xpulse is offered in two variants, it’s the off-road version – the Xpulse 200 – that most of us are excited about. So, let’s talk about that first.</p>

<p>The design? In simple terms, it’s pretty basic. And Hero is making no bones about it either. It’s not supposed to be an aesthetically pleasing motorcycle – it’s all about function. The Hero Xpulse 200 is a purpose-built bike, and its every part screams off-road.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The spoke wheels – 21-inch at the front and 17-inch at back – shod with meaty Ceat tyres, the long-travel suspension – 37mm dia front fork with 190mm travel and a 10-step pre-load adjustable mono-shock at back with 170mm travel – a tall handlebar with hand guards, a small windscreen, a robust engine bash plate and a high-mounted exhaust are dead giveaways that the Xpulse 200 has been single-handedly designed to take on the rough stuff. And I simply love the approach that they’ve taken!</p>

<p>The fit-and-finish of the bike, however, isn’t the best. The plastics used feel flimsy, and the paint quality could’ve been better. The all-digital instrument cluster, on the other hand, looks very good and is very easy on the eyes with its large and clear layout. The bike also offers Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. But the system can be iffy at times – during our time with the bike, it kept on unpairing my phone, giving me a distinct sense of deja-vu every single time.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>At its heart</strong><br />
The Hero Xpulse 200 has the same 200cc engine that debuted with the Xtreme 200R. Power and torque figures are identical – 18.2bhp and 17.1Nm. But there’s a key difference – the powertrain of the Xpulse has fuel injection. A carburetted version, however, is also offered with the same power output and torque. The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox.</p>

<p>The motor is refined and smooth, with very strong low-end and mid-range performance. It loves to be revved. Paired with a smooth and short-ratio gearbox, it feels eager and excited. That said, the top-end performance is weak and has nothing remarkable to talk about. Overtaking a vehicle at highway speeds needs a lot of determination and pre-planning. You really have to rev the hell off the engine to overtake at 80 to 100km/h.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rear sprocket here is bigger than the <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/hero-xtreme-200r-review-first-ride-103795/">Hero Xtreme 200R</a> (38T vs 37T) for better acceleration. As for its top speed, it struggles to hit 120km/h on the speedo. And, while you’re at it, you can feel vibrations on the handlebar and foot-pegs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In short, it’s a decent bike to ride in the city, but out on the highway and during long-distance rides, it leaves you wanting more poke. However, if you’re a relaxed rider and feel comfortable cruising at a relatively slower pace, 80 – 90km/h for instance, the Xpulse makes for a decent touring machine. And since we’re talking about touring, I must add that the saddle isn’t the most comfortable either for long rides – the seat is hard and narrow, and it gets tiring after a while. The 13-litre fuel tank, however, ensures good riding range.</p>

<p><strong>Dakar roots</strong><br />
While the Xpulse doesn’t feel special enough for the road, everything changes when you get off the road. It’s simply brilliant off-road! You see, with its long travel suspension, crisp throttle response and short gear ratios, the Xpulse is a hoot to ride on uneven surfaces. After literally throwing it around CS Santosh’s backyard – the Big Rock Dirt Park – for hours, I was completely smitten with the Hero Xpulse 200. &nbsp;</p>

<p>What I really love about this new off-road wonder is the fact that it stays true to its claims – it’s a lightweight (154kgs) off-road machine that’s very friendly and forgiving. And when you’re going over obstacles or riding on off-road trails, the balance of the chassis and the handling and intuitiveness of the bike will inspire you to push it harder, obstacle-after-obstacle.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Another thing that particularly shines is its suspension setup – the bike sure feels decidedly firm on the road, but the shocks work wonders when you go off-road. The balance between compression and rebound damping is very well calibrated. I can’t remember an instance where the front forks bottomed out – the front always felt tucked in, even on loose surfaces.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sure, the bike moves around a lot, but it’s very predictable. The main factor here is the weight – it’s so light that you always feel in control. It never tries to overpower you, even when you tend to overcook things. And, to be honest, all of this points to the fact that there’s a hand of Hero’s MotoSport division, and of CS Santosh, in developing and fine-tuning the Xpulse.</p>

<p>The Xpulse comes with single-channel ABS and disc brakes on both ends. The brakes feel wooden and lack feedback, but the braking performance is satisfactory. The ABS calibration is definitely impressive – it’s less intrusive and doesn’t kick in abruptly. This is something that really matters when you’re riding on loose surfaces, or on gravel.</p>

<p><strong>T for Touring?</strong><br />
It’s time to get familiar with the second version – the Xpulse 200T. According to Hero, it’s for the road. And that’s why it comes with the exact same suspension setup as the Xtreme 200R instead of long travel forks. The wheels are smaller – 17-inch on both ends – and they are alloys. Plus, they’re shod with more road-focussed MRF rubber. The engine is the same, but the T doesn’t get fuel-injection. Instead, fuel is still fed through a carburettor. According to Hero, this is done to keep the costs in check.</p>

<p>Now, while the underpinnings are more or less the same as it’s off-road version, its different chassis geometry makes the 200T feel completely different to ride, but, unfortunately, not in a good way! The engine seems to be a little less refined and the ride quality is even firmer. The top speed is also lower, at 115km/h, despite the fact that it has a smaller rear sprocket – 37T – as compared to its off-road sibling. However, on the tarmac, the 200T definitely feels better, more agile and more planted because of the smaller wheels and a lower centre of gravity. All said and done, given the price difference between the two – the 200T is priced at `94,000 (ex-showroom) – the Hero Xpulse 200 emerges as a better package overall.</p>

<p><strong>Verdict</strong><br />
Having ridden both bikes back-to-back for two days, I found the difference between the two as clear as night and day. In terms of usage, Hero believes that the 200T will be the one that will bring in the volumes, as most of the buyers want a bike that looks ‘adventurous,’ but can be used primarily on the tarmac. I think this makes sense, too, because it’s priced well, it has retro looks and comes packed with decent features, including a full-LED headlamp and Bluetooth connectivity. And, in terms of performance, it’s more or less the same as the off-road version.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But the one thing that’s missing here is that it doesn’t tug at your heartstrings like the Xpulse 200 does. And, not only that, I feel that the Hero Xpulse 200 is a more rounded package – it does everything better than the 200T for only a fraction more money.</p>

<p>But what I love the most about it is its one-dimensional approach. Agreed, its engine doesn’t pack enough punch, the quality levels aren’t great and it isn’t comfortable for very long rides. But the moment you decide to fool around with it off-road, it’ll smack a wide grin on your face.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You don’t have to be an off-road specialist to have fun with this bike, nor do you have to spend a fortune to own or maintain this thing. Long story short, if you’re a beginner in the world of adventure riding – like myself – the Xpulse 200 is a great learning tool, and, I guess, it doesn’t get better than that. &nbsp;</p>
