Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 Highlights
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 – launched alongside the Vitpilen 250 – is the Swedish brand’s one of the first motorcycles for the Indian market. For those unaware, Husqvarna motorcycle is owned by KTM AG and is brought to India under the KTM-Bajaj alliance.
Moving over to the bike, the Svartpilen 250 sports a Scrambler-esque design with an upright stance for effortless riding in the city. Interestingly, the name Svartpilen 250 stands for “Black Arrow” in Swedish. In essence, it is a narrow and compact motorcycle with an extremely well-balanced design.
Exterior Details
The Scrambler-esque design of the Svartpilen 250 is a first for the segment. Upfront, the circular headlamp (with embedded DRL) looks smart and illuminates the road very well. Since it’s a Scrambler – well, almost – the engine bay is exposed. The elongated fuel tank sits right below the seat. The tail is compact and the pillion seat, perhaps, looks well-suited for short rides. The bike has a kerb weight of 154kg.
Engine & Transmission
As the name suggests, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 features a 248.76cc single-cylinder engine, which uses liquid for cooling and churns out 29.2bhp and 24Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The engine is, of course, compliant with BS-VI emission standards. We’ve previously seen this engine in the KTM 250 Duke, in its BS-IV guise. Expect the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 fuel efficiency numbers to be similar to that of its KTM sibling.
Handling
Handling of a motorcycle hugely depends on its mechanical parts. Starting with the suspension, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 new model comes equipped with beefy 43mm USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the back. The 17-inch wheels are shod with a 110/70 – R17, 54H tyre and a 150/60 – R17, 66H tyre at the front and rear, respectively. Just like its KTM sibling, it is also built around a steel trellis frame. As for braking, there’s a 320mm disc brake at the front and a 230mm disc brake at the back.
Features
On the equipment front, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 new model covers all the basic features, as per the segment standpoint. For safety, there’s dual-channel ABS. On the lighting front, the headlamp, taillamp, and even the indicators feature LEDs. Keeping with the retro design, the instrument cluster is a circular digital display, good for a number of rider-centric information.
