Kawasaki Vulcan S Highlights
Ever since Harley's exit from India and the discontinuation of its smallest middle-weight cruiser, the Kawasaki Vulcan S was the only middle-weight cruiser in the Indian market for quite some time. Of course, with new launches due in the Indian market, all that's about to change. However, Kawasaki has updated the Vulcan visually, since BS6 emission norms updates already took place in its 2021 variant. So, what is the Kawasaki Vulcan S, and is it a compelling offering in its 2022 BS6 avatar? Read on for more information.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Exterior Details
The Kawasaki Vulcan, for all intents and purposes is a cruiser. Although its drivetrain may motivate some to claim otherwise, visually and ergonomically the Vulcan is a quintessential cruiser. It features a typical cruiser stance, with a lazy rake angle, forward placed foot-pegs and hence, such ergonomics. In classic cruiser fashion, the bike has a large wheelbase of 1575mm, and a substantial kerb weight of 235kg. But with its low centre of gravity, the weight is rather easy to carry.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Engine & Transmission
The Kawasaki Vulcan S is rather controversial for its drive train since it features a middle weight sports bike engine in more or less the same state of tune. The bike gets a 649cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor similar to the one seen on its fully faired sibling, the Ninja 650. The BS6 engine is good for 59.94hp at 7500rpm and 62.4Nm of peak torque at 6600rpm. This is supported by a six-speed manual gearbox and gets dual-channel ABS as standard.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Handling
For handling duties, the Kawasaki Vulcan S gets 42mm telescopic forks on the front. The rear is handled by an off-set mono-shock that also gets preload adjustability. The rim setup on the Vulcan is off-set in a cruiser style. This means that the front is an 18-inch rim and the rear is a 17-inch rim. Both get shod with tubeless tyres thanks to the alloy rims front and rear. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc and a 250mm rear.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Features
The Kawasaki Vulcan S's list of features remains the same. The only update the bike gets for its latest variant is a new, updated colour scheme. The bike still gets a semi-digital instrument console with an analogue tachometer. The cockpit features data such as a gear position indication. The Kawasaki Vulcan gets a feature Kawasaki calls ‘Ergo-Fit’ ergonomics adjustability. The Kawasaki Vulcan gets 3-step adjustability for the footpegs. Through accessory items and adjustments, Kawasaki also enables the rider to adjust the bike’s seat and handlebar as well.
Kawasaki Vulcan S Price & Variants
The Kawasaki Vulcan S gets a single variant and colour scheme in India. The Kawasaki Vulcan S standard variant is priced at ₹6.1 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) and comes in a Metallic Matte Graphenesteel Gray colour scheme.
