Kawasaki Z650 Highlights
The Kawasaki Z650, as the name suggests, is the naked sibling of the Ninja 650. The Z650 sits above the Z250 and below the Z900 in the Z series line-up by Kawasaki India. The Z650 blends the Sugomi design language from the Z1000 with a slim and light looking package, which, in turn, results in a head-turning aggressive design.
Kawasaki has used the opportunity of upgrading the Z650 to give it a sharper design. As a result, the 2020 Z650 gets a sharper front-end, replete with full LED headlamps and a new cowl. Other than that, it remains largely similar to the model it replaces.
The Kawasaki Z650 is 2,115mm in length, 765mm in width and 1,065mm in height. Ground clearance is 130mm, and the wheelbase is 1,410mm. The kerb weight, on the other hand, is 191kg, up by 5kg in comparison to the earlier model.
Engine & Transmission
The Kawasaki Z650 comes powered by a 649cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor, which is capable of churning out 67.4bhp and 64Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. With the 2020 update, the engine is now compliant with the stringent BS-VI emission standards. Moreover, the Kawasaki Z650 mileage is rated at 22km/l.
The Z650 is built around a trellis frame and the suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and a horizontal back-link with adjustable preload at the back. The stopping power comes from dual 300mm discs at the front and a 200 mm disc at the rear. The Kawasaki Z650 new model comes fitted with Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres; a 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) tyre at the front and a 160/60ZR17M/C (69W) tyre at the rear.
As for the equipment, the Z650 now comes with a 4.3-inch TFT display, which features Bluetooth/smartphone connectivity amongst other things. It is also equipped with slipper clutch technology and ABS as standard. The headlamps and taillamp both feature LEDs, in terms of lighting.
