<p>TVS Motor Company has launched a new&nbsp;USD fork variant of the&nbsp;Apache RTR 160 4V motorcycle&nbsp;in India. At Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant is around Rs 500 more expensive than the dual-channel ABS version, and&nbsp;has been given a 37mm&nbsp;gold-finished upside-down (USD)&nbsp;fork setup and three new paint finishes. The Apache RTR 160 4V retains its aggressive appearance with a&nbsp;sharp-looking headlight design,&nbsp;fang-type LED Daytime Running Lamps, and a muscular fuel tank, but it is now being offered in Granite Grey, Matte Black, and Pearl White shades. All three feature updated race-inspired graphics. Aside from these changes, the bike remains the same.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rear end continues to feature a monoshock, while the top-spec USD variant uses petal-type discs and dual-channel Anti-lock Braking System to handle braking duties. Wheels are 17-inch alloy units. The suspension and braking setup is now on par with the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V (Rs 1.39 lakh) and the&nbsp;Bajaj Pulsar N160 (Rs 1.40 lakh). The prices are ex-showroom.</p>

<p>The new variant uses a&nbsp;159.7cc&nbsp;air/oil-cooled&nbsp;single-cylinder engine&nbsp;that makes&nbsp;17.30bhp and 14.73Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission.&nbsp;Although the Xtreme 160R 4V&nbsp;has a slightly bigger engine displacement capacity,&nbsp;the TVS machine produces more power.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The TVS bike offers a fully digital LCD instrument console with smartphone connectivity, along with call/message alerts, a gear shift indicator,&nbsp;a crash alert system, and turn-by-turn navigation.&nbsp;It also comes&nbsp;with glide-through tech (GTT), voice assist, and&nbsp;three riding modes (Sport, Urban, and Rain) that can adjust the power output and level of ABS intervention. <p>TVS Motor Company launched the 2024 version of the Apache RTR 160 4V at the recent edition of TVS Motosoul in Goa. The naked motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in only one colour option –Lightning Blue. Given new features and certain mechanical changes, it is more than simply a MY update. Sharing his thoughts at the latest launch, Vimal Sumbly, Head of Business, Premium, TVS Motor Company, said, ‘TVS Motosoul is a platform that offers a complete range of motorcycling experiences aligned to the varied interests of the biking community. <h2>2024 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: New Updates</h2>

<p>TVS has equipped the new Apache RTR 160R 4V with a larger 240mm rear disc brake – as opposed to the previous 200mm unit – and dual-channel ABS as standard. The 270mm front disc brake is still present. In addition, there's a new Lightning Blue paint scheme, three riding modes (Urban, Rain, and Sport), and TVS SmartXonnect with voice assistance available.</p>

<p>The modified model continues to feature standard telescopic front forks, a rear mono-shock, and 17-inch wheels, with 90/90 (f) and 130/70 (r) section tyres. Moreover, it has a radial unit at the back.</p>

<h2>2024 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Engine and Hardware Details</h2>

<p>Mechanically, the motorcycle's 160cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine produces a maximum torque of 14.8Nm at 6,500rpm and 16.2bhp of peak power at 8,000rpm and is paired with a five-speed transmission. The suspension consists of a mono-shock unit at the back and a telescopic fork at the front. The manufacturer has also improved the braking system by adding a larger rear disc (240mm) with rear lift protection (RLP).</p>

<h2>2024 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Rivals</h2>

<p>In terms of market competition, the new Apache RTR 160 4V rivals the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V, and the Honda CB Hornet 2.0.</p>

<p>In November 2023, the company recorded robust sales growth, totalling 364,231 units compared to 277,123 units in November 2022, reflecting a solid 31% increase. Two-wheeler sales rose by 34%, reaching 352,103 units from 263,642 units in November of the previous year. Domestic two-wheeler sales surged by an impressive 50%, escalating from 191,730 units in November 2022 to 287,017 units in November 2023.</p>

<p>Motorcycle sales saw a 19% gain, increasing from 145,006 units in November 2022 to 172,836 units in the same period this year. Scooter sales demonstrated remarkable growth, rising from 83,679 units in November 2022 to 135,749 units in November 2023, representing a substantial 62% surge. Electric model sales also showed a positive trend, with the company selling 16,782 units last month, compared to 10,056 units in November of the previous year.</p>

<p>In terms of exports, the company shipped 75,203 units in November 2023, slightly lower than the 84,134 units exported in November 2022. However, overall two-wheeler exports decreased to 65,086 units in November 2023 from 71,912 units in the corresponding month of the previous year.</p>

<p><strong>TVS has launched its most powerful motorcycle in the 150cc segment </strong>–&nbsp;<strong>the new TVS Apache RTR 165 Race Performance </strong>– <strong>but&nbsp;only 200 units of the bike&nbsp;will be sold in the country. </strong></p>

<p>The new TVS Apache RTR 165 Race Performance has been launched at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The RTR 165 RP (short for Race Performance) is effectively a heavily modified version of the standard TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. TVS has upgraded the motorcycle so much, it has become a race motorcycle for street use.</p>

<p>However, only 200 units of the RTR 165 RP will be produced for the Indian market. So, if you are in the market for an exclusive 160cc motorcycle, you should go ahead and pay the extra Rs 30,000 over the base price of RTR 160 4V on TVS’ online portal.</p>

<p>The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP gets a higher capacity 164.9cc engine. The standard motorcycle gets a 159.7cc single-cylinder block. The engine is supported by high-lift camshafts and valves, which are 15 per cent bigger than the standard size. TVS claims that the engine is a high-revving motor, and we don’t doubt that.</p>

<p>As the RTR 165 RP makes 1.6bhp more than the standard RTR 1640 4V, especially higher in the rev band. There is a 35 per cent increase in the air intake, and the engine features a twin electrode spark plug for better combustion. The piston is new as well, which features a dome for enhanced compression.</p>

<p>The power rating for the new RTR 165 RP stands at 18.9bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm at 8,750rpm. Despite the increase in power, this high revving engine produces marginally less torque.</p>

<p>The gearbox is the same five-speed unit, and the motorcycle features a brass plated chain drive. The slipper clutch assembly has been re-tuned as well. The RTR 165 RP gets a larger rear brake rotor. The new disc is 240mm in size, which is 40mm larger than that of the standard motorcycle.</p>

<p>The brake and clutch levers are adjustable; however, the front suspension units are not. The rear mono-shock gets 10-step pre-load adjustment. The rear tyre has been upgraded to a radial one, while the front is the same.</p>

<p>The TVS Apache RTR 165 Race Performance gets the same design as the standard RTR 160 4V, but TVS has covered most of the body panels with racy graphics. The alloy wheels are red, and the other body panels are finished in a combination of blue, white, and red.</p>

<p>The new TVS Apache RTR 165 RP has been positioned under the brand’s new Race Performance vertical. TVS says that the RTR 165 is the first in the series, which effectively means more racy two-wheelers are to follow. So, the question is – which one will be the next to wear the RP badge? TVS Apache RTR 165 Race Performance launched at Rs. 1.45 lakh

<p><strong>TVS is all set to surprise us with yet another track-oriented motorcycle, but this time, it is more affordable and will be targeted towards the mass-market segment.</strong></p>

<p>Back in September, we reported that TVS trademarked the name ‘TVS Apache RTR 165&nbsp;Race Performance’, and <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/tvs-apache-rtr-165-rp-name-trademarked-110014/">you can read about it by clicking here</a>. Now, the company has teased that product in a promotional video.</p>

<p>The upcoming TVS Apache RTR 165 RP – short for ‘Race Performance’ – is likely to be more performance-oriented than the current Apache RTR 160&nbsp;4V.</p>

<p>The platform and the engine will mostly be the same as the outgoing model, but we’re expecting a marginal power increase. Currently, the Apache RTR 160&nbsp;V4 pushes out 17.3bhp and 14.73Nm. The gearbox in the upcoming motorcycle will be the same five-speed unit; however, the final drive ratios are likely to be tweaked for better acceleration.</p>

<p>More importantly, the new Apache RTR 165 RP is likely to get the option of BTO (Built To Order) parts,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/2021-tvs-apache-rr310-launched-at-rs-260-lakh-109973/">just like TVS’ flagship Apache RR 310</a>. Expect it to have cycle parts such as a racier handlebar setup and rear set footpegs, which will make the rider’s triangle more aggressive and offer more cornering clearance.</p>

<p>So far, the details are limited but going by how seriously TVS has taken the ‘affordable performance’, we have high hopes from the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 165 Race Performance.</p>

<p>When the motorcycle will be launched, it will create a niche of its own, and it is likely to attract buyers who are looking for a small capacity track tool, such as the Yamaha YZF-R15 V4 / R15M and the 2021&nbsp;KTM RC125.</p>

<p><b>After a long drought period, TVS has finally brought in the new Apache RTR 160. Here are some things you need to know about the motorcycle</b></p>

<p>At first glance, the new <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/tvs-apache-rtr-160-4v-review-first-ride-103391/">TVS Apache RTR 160 4V</a> may look identical to its elder sibling – the <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/tvs-apache-rtr-200-4v-review-first-ride/">TVS Apache&nbsp;RTR 200 4V</a> but there is more to it than meet the eye. We recently got our hands on the motorcycle at the TVS test track in Hosur and we came back impressed. Here are some things that you need to know about the Apache RTR 160.</p>

<p><b>Engine: </b>The 159.cc single-cylinder motor isn’t an all-new unit – in fact, it has been derived from the same engine that worked force on the previous-generation model. That being said, the Hosur-based company has clearly put in a lot of effort in making the engine more refined. In comparison to the outgoing model, the new Apache RTR 160 feels a lot more refined even higher in the rev range. Meanwhile, for better combustion of fuel, TVS has also fitted the RTR 160 with a 4-valve head. This has also helped in pulling out better peak power from the engine. TVS has brought in the Apache RTR 160 in the carburetted as well as the fuel injected trim. In the carb form, the RTR 160 makes peak power of 16.3bhp while the FI churns out 16.6bhp. Both versions make max torque of 14.8Nm.</p>

<p><b>Platform: </b>The new TVS Apache RTR 160 is based on the same chassis as its elder sibling – the sub-frame, however, is different. Apart from the obvious cost advantage for TVS, it has also aided the handling dynamics of the RTR 160. The bike changes direction with ease and feels a lot nimbler than before. Of course, due credit must also be given to the suspension setup. While the front has been fitted with standard telescopic forks, the rear gets a preload adjustable monoshock. Based on your weight and riding style, you can choose from one of the seven levels of preload. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><b>Design: </b>For the most part, the Apache RTR 160 4V looks identical to its elder sibling, but there are some changes that can be easily spotted.<b> </b>While the 200 has been fitted with a clip-on handlebar in line with its sporty nature, the 160 gets the conventional raised handlebar by virtue of it being a commuter. In place of the split seat on the RTR 200, this one has been fitted with a single piece unit for enhanced comfort of the pillion rider. The tail panels have been remoulded too. TVS has fitted the RTR 160 with standard 6-spoke alloy wheels.</p>

<p><b>Variants: </b>With the launch of the RTR 200, TVS has got into the habit of offering multiple variants for their products. The RTR 160 follows the lead of its elder sibling. Like I mentioned before, the RTR 160 4V has been launched in the carburetted form as well as in the fuel injected trim. The carburetted version comes with two options – without and with the option of a rear disc brake. Other changes between and carb variants include – a less powerful headlight bulb and a narrow 110/80 section tyre for the drum brake variant. <b>&nbsp;</b></p>

<p><b>Competition: </b>The premium commuter segment has some very capable competitors that the TVS Apache RTR 160 would need to watch out for. Leading the charge from the front are the Honda CB Hornet 160R and the Suzuki Gixxer. There is also the <a href="https://www.autox.com/reviews/bike-reviews/bajaj-pulsar-ns160-review-first-ride/">Bajaj Pulsar NS160</a> and the Yamaha FZ-S in the mix of things. Interestingly, apart from the TVS, the Yamaha is the only other manufacturer to offer fuel injection in this class.</p>

At first glance, the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V may look identical to its elder sibling – the RTR 200 4V but there is more to it than meet the eye. We recently got our hands on the motorcycle at the TVS test track in Hosur and we came back impressed.

bike with a new 160cc motor with a 4-valve head. It comes with an LED headlamp,
an edgy fuel tank, and contrasting black alloy wheels. The RTR 160 4V goes
against the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/bajaj/pulsar-n160/">Bajaj
Pulsar N160</a> and the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/hero/xtreme-160r-4v/">Hero Xtreme 160R 4V</a>.</p>
