You might be wondering why the F77 SuperStreet looks almost identical to the F77 Mach 2. Well, according to the company, the design was already so good that they saw no reason to make any changes. So, the hardware is pretty much the same, with just a few small tweaks. The Recon variant we tested comes with the same 10.3kWh battery, giving you an IDC-certified range of 323km, along with 40 horsepower and 100Nm of torque. It can go from zero to 60km/h in just 2.8 seconds and hit the 100km/h mark in another 4.9 seconds, making the Recon variant about 0.1 seconds faster than the standard one. However, both versions have a top speed of 155km/h, just like the F77 Mach 2.

The SuperStreet also offers three ride modes – Glide, Combat, and Ballistic – paired to a 10-level regenerative braking system, which is optional in the standard version. Another cool feature it shares with the Mach 2 is the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), which effectively uses the regenerative braking system in conjunction with the ABS, ensuring optimal stability and control, especially in challenging riding conditions. It prevents wheel lockup by dynamically adjusting braking force while slowing down using regenerative braking.

<h2>What’s Different?</h2>

One of the biggest updates is the handlebar – the bike gets a wider, single-piece unit instead of the old clip-on bars. To fit this new handlebar on the SuperStreet version, the company added a riser and tweaked the triple clamp. Although the seat and footpeg positions haven’t changed, this new setup straightens the riding posture by about 25 degrees. So, you end up sitting pretty upright, just like you do on a typical streetfighter. And that change really makes a world of difference. In fact, I really like the comfortable riding position of the F77 SuperStreet. The upright riding position feels great, and those wider handlebars give you better control, especially when navigating city traffic. Surprisingly, it doesn’t lose much on the track, either. But is that really all it takes to call it a solid street bike?

<h2>Street-Friendly Enough?</h2>

The F77 SuperStreet has the same mechanical setup as the Mach 2. The brakes are great, but the suspension feels a bit too stiff for my weight, which is about 50kgs. That said, heavier riders might not face the same issue. You can also tweak the preload at both the front and rear. What really stands out, though, is the weight. It tips the scales at over 200 kilos, which makes it a lot heavier than most ICE street bikes that perform similarly. For lighter riders, just lifting it off the stand can be a task, and manoeuvring it through city traffic definitely isn’t as easy as riding a 160 – 170kgs ICE sports bike.

<h2>Better Go Long Haul</h2>


I also found the seat to be a bit stiff, which could be a problem on longer rides. However, if you can swap it out for something more comfortable, I think the F77 SuperStreet could be a solid touring companion.


Out on the open road, the weight of the bike isn’t really an issue. Plus, it’s also packed with some cool touring-friendly features, like three riding modes, 10 levels of regenerative braking, four levels of traction control, and dual-mode, dual-channel ABS to ensure that you ride the way you desire. Sure, you might miss out on a sweet exhaust growl, but the smooth, vibration-free ride, especially at speeds up to 155km/h, more than makes up for it. Plus, the money you save on fuel means that you’ll have more to spend on fun stuff during your trip.

The F77 SuperStreet may look similar to the Mach 2, but Ultraviolette claims it offers a completely different riding experience. We ride it to find out!

Ultraviolette first showcased the very first iteration of the F77 back in 2019. It was fast and had some neat tricks up its sleeve like a removable battery pack. The company, once again, faded into the shadows for a couple of years, tweaking away to give us the final, mass-production version of the motorcycle in early-2023. It was faster, more fun-to-ride but did demand a steep asking price. Over that, the lack of dealership networks was a serious thorn in Ultraviolette’s backside when it came to lighting up the sales charts.

Fast forward to 2024 and I’m now staring down the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 with a picture-perfect backdrop of Hosur's rolling hillside behind it. This time around, it’s more affordable, faster, has a tad longer features list and gets a higher claimed range, too. Now, I’m a motorcycle enthusiast who has performance at the top of my wishlist but I also have a 70km commute to deal with on a day-to-day basis. So, this seems right up my alley, right? Only one way to find out, let’s dive straight in.

<h2>Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 First Ride Review: Design &amp; Ergonomics</h2>

You might be telling yourself that it looks the exact same as it did previously and this entire review is just a sham. Well, you are definitely right about the first part. Why fix what’s not broken, was what Ultraviolette told us. It retains the sharp, mass-forward design street fighter stance it had earlier and we’re glad they didn’t mess with it. The design of the motorcycle remains identical but there have been improvements made to the quality of materials and you now get a palette of 9 new colour options (or personalities, as UV likes to call them) to choose from. These include Supersonic Silver, Stellar White, Lighting Blue, Turbo Red, Afterburner Yellow, Stealth Grey, and Cosmic Grey. In my opinion, the ones which stand out the most are the white, yellow and light-gray paint schemes. However, one pet peeve which irked me earlier and still does are the cringe-worthy wheel stripes which the F77 Mach 2’s alloys continue to feature. Superbike manufacturer’s left that trend back in the early 2000’s and so should Ultraviolette. Anyway, when it comes to quality of materials, it doesn’t disappoint - the company has made improvements across the motorcycle but what stands out the most is the allumunium charging port cover, which replaces the flimsy, plastic piece it had earlier.

When it comes to ergonomics, the F77 Mach 2 still continues to offer the streetfighter-style, committed stance you got with the outgoing model. However, I feel the Mach2 hits a sweet spot between a committed and upright riding posture. You continue to sit up high, with a semi-sport footpeg position and reaching out to a low-set handlebar position. If you intend to use this motorcycle on an everyday basis, this part might give you second thoughts. However, I assure you, you will get used to it in a matter of a day.

<h2>Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 First Ride Review: Features</h2>

Let’s get to features now because despite the tiny list of improvements that have been made over the previous model, there is a lot to talk about. Before I give away the latest additions to the motorcycle, let me give you a quick revision of the highlights. This includes all-LED lighting, 5-inch colour TFT screen, reverse mode, digital document storage, auto on/off headlights, 4G-based connectivity features and multiple ride modes. The Ultraviolette was already feature-laden, so trying to make improvements on a tighter budget would definitely have been an uphill task for the Mach 2. Speaking of uphill, the F77 now features hill-hold assist which, when turned on, automatically applies the brakes when you let go of the lever and then let’s go automatically when you squeeze it back in.

The new F77 Mach 2’s biggest change, though, has to be the improved brake regeneration feature. It now gets a total of 10 levels of brake regeneration, compared to the three levels you had in the previous versions. However, we’ll talk about this as we get to the performance part of this review. Over that, Ultraviolette has made improvements to the instrument console’s UI to make it easier to understand. As part of this update, you now get a G-metre-like reading which displays real-time and accurate throttle readout on the top and brake-regen at the bottom. If there was one improvement that we could have asked for, it would be the inclusion of cruise control. Given the price of the motorcycle and the committed riding stance, I would have loved to see this feature included for those occasional highway rides.

<h2>Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 First Ride Review: Performance &amp; Handling</h2>

Now, before I get to how the numbers on paper translate in the real world, let me quickly touch upon the actual figures. The Mach 2 features a 30kW electric motor which results in a power output of 40bhp and 100Nm of torque. This output is standard across the two variants of the F77 Mach 2 and the only difference between the two is the size of the battery and its range. The base variant gets a 7.3kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 211km/charge. The top Recon model which you see on these pages, offers a battery capacity of 10.3kWh and a claimed range of 323km/charge. The performance, on the other hand, is still the explosive little number that we remember but with improvements. The acceleration time is now better with the bike capable of going from 0 to 60km/h in just 2.8 seconds and the 0 to 100km/h feat achieved &nbsp;in just 7.7 seconds. These are marginally better times than the previous version and that’s pretty much the story across the entire bike. Ultraviolette has managed to eke out performance across the board to bring us a motorcycle which has improved as a package.

The big talking point, however, around the improvements to the F77 Mach 2 is its torque. As soon as you get on the gas, and you happen to be in ballistic mode, it wants to surge forward with ferocity. Just to give you an idea, Ultraviolette also used the F77 to pull a payload of 15,000kg. &nbsp;As soon as you get going, you’ll realise you have a bit more oomph in the low-end and a tad more zing in the mid-range, too. This has made the bike so much more tractable at lower speeds even if you are in the Combat and Stealth ride modes. As a result, the bike manages to dull down its performance in the other two modes well, when required. If you aim to preserve range or just want a relaxed ride to your destination or it’s raining cats-and-dogs, the F77 can do that too. Ultraviolette has managed to strike a good balance in that aspect.

Now, another big talking poing around the Mach 2 version are 10 brake regeneration levels. You can choose between 0 to 9, and in the highest regeneration mode, the deceleration is just perfect to imitate good engine braking while also recovering charge. How much? Well, Ultraviolette claims upto 30 percent of the total. In fact, the company also claims the F77's regeneration power is more than the power output of any electric 2w in India. The previous version gave you three levels of brake regen and the company claims the highest level in the outgoing model is equal to just level 2 in the Mach 2.

When it comes to handling, it is the same great package we remember. Yes, it does feel heavy when you climb on and in traffic but, at speed, it masks that weight well. In fact, it is quite nimble I'd say. It is comfortable in most riding conditions, too, but does get unsettled over speed bumps and undulated surfaces, given its weight when riding hard. Overall though, it is a sorted package in terms of handling and performance, similar to what we felt when the first iteration came out.

<h2>Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 First Ride Review: Verdict</h2>

If I had to put it in simple words - yes, the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is now a better and faster version of the best electric motorcycle that was available in the country. Given the more affordable price point that it now retails for, we would definitely recommend this motorcycle for those who wanted a fast, good looking and semi-practical performance-oriented motorcycle for everyday use. I say semi-practical because it may be committed in terms of riding posture but the claimed 323km range should provide a sigh of relief if you suffer from range anxiety. Over that, Ultraviolette is also working at opening 17 new dealerships across India within a month or two. So, if you’ve always looked at getting your hands on the F77 but price and dealer networks have stopped you, now is the perfect time to hop on!

In order to improve the best and fastest electric motorcycle in the country, Ultraviolette Automotive has made F77 Mach 2 better and even faster. The improvements include styling, features and performance, too. We put that claim to the test.

At first, the idea of an electric motorcycle seemed absurd to me. Then, I rode the Ultraviolette F77…

I am not going to lie to you. Going into the ride, I was thinking - there’s going to be no clutch or transmission to speak of, so exactly how much am I going to enjoy riding an electric motorcycle? The short answer to that question is - quite a bit. You see, while Ultraviolette gets ready to deliver the F77 to customers, as a company, it has existed since 2016. That means a lot of time and effort has gone into making the F77 what it is. And what exactly is it? In my opinion, it’s a motorcycle first and an EV second.

How quickly do you adjust to the Ultraviolette F77?

In five minutes, or a couple of kilometres - whichever comes first! The first couple of times I was coming to a full stop, I found myself reaching for the clutch. In the case of the F77, the clutch and gear lever do not exist. But having reached for the clutch and the gear lever a couple of times, I found myself getting used to the throttle-and-brake configuration quite quickly. One thing that I appreciated was the fact that the rear brake is still where you would find it on a conventional motorcycle - under your right foot. Just for the sake of design uniformity, they haven’t stuck it on the handlebar where the clutch would be - like a scooter. Everything else, like the switch gear and even the instrument cluster, all feel very familiar, and in fact, the controls on the F77 fall to hand very easily. Not just that, they feel quite robust and most of the buttons on the handlebar have a reassuring feedback. Therefore, it's easy to operate them even while riding the motorcycle.

How demanding is the riding position on the Ultraviolette F77?

The first time you swing a leg over the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ultraviolette/f77/">Ultraviolette F77</a>, it feels a little intimidating. The handlebar is low down, the foot-pegs are quite rear-set, and you end up having to lean forward to properly sit on the motorcycle. Shorter riders might find the seat height a bit tall, and at more than 200 kg, the F77 is on the heavier side - at least on paper. You feel the weight, but only when you are moving it around from a standstill, or when you come to a hard stop and immediately stick your foot out to stop the motorcycle from falling over. That’s it. Every other time, the Ultraviolette does well to mask its weight. All-in-all, once you take a few minutes to adjust to the asks of the Ultraviolette F77, it gets pretty easy to ride. However, ride it for long hours or hustle it around corners (which you will read more about soon) and the committed riding position will start taking its toll on you.

How’s the power delivery on the Ultraviolette F77?

For many of you, including me, this is going to be the make-or-break characteristic of the F77. Can it create an experience visceral enough that you don’t miss the internal combustion engine? Well, yes. First of all, the Ultraviolette F77 is not as silent as one might expect. The electric motor spins a reduction gear and that makes a whiny noise that increases in intensity as the speeds climb. It’s no inline-four but in my honest opinion, it’s something I can live with. Will I come to love it? That, only time will tell.

As far as the power from the electric motor is concerned, you have got three riding modes - Glide, Combat, and Ballistic. All three modes offer a good low-down response, although Glide is limited to 80 km/h and isn’t the best choice if you like to dart into gaps. Combat is good when you don’t want to destroy your range but still want to have fun, but ultimately, it’s the Ballistic mode that most of you will love on this motorcycle. Power delivery is quite linear in all modes, but it’s the throttle calibration that makes the F77 stand out. Feed in the throttle at any given speed, and the motorcycle responds naturally. What’s not so good is the regeneration (or regen in short) as even in its highest setting, you can barely feel any regen on the motorcycle.

<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ultraviolette/">Ultraviolette</a> has said that it is working on multiple regen settings for the F77, and once they are homologated for the motorcycle, they will be introduced at a later stage. For now, the absence of regen will rear its ugly head now and then, especially if you like to naturally slow down using engine braking when approaching a corner.

How does the Ultraviolette F77 corner?

This is the part where you fall in love with the F77. Despite its weight, the folks at Ultraviolette have made sure that the F77 stays neutral when you are giving it the beans. First up, the motorcycle stays stable even when you start nearing its claimed 147 km/h top speed. The tyres have been developed in conjunction with MRF, especially for the F77, and they are one of the reasons why the F77 feels so stable. No matter how aggressively I whacked open the throttle, the tyres stuck to the tarmac like a leech, and they behaved similarly in the corners. For a part of the ride, we got to enjoy the F77 on a go-kart track and no matter how much I leaned on the front-end of the motorcycle, it just refused to give in an inch. The rear had a similar story to tell, although as lean angles increased lap-after-lap, you could feel it twitch on exits just a tad bit. Not enough to soil your underpants, but enough to put a big wide grin on your face!&nbsp;

As far as the brakes go, you have a single-disc setup at both ends, but at the front, Ultraviolette is offering sintered pads. They make a decent amount of noise and offer loads of feedback, but with the amount of grip in the tyres, I could have done with a front brake with more stopping power. The rear brake feels very inert in the way it engages, and for most of the ride, I preferred using the front only.

The suspension is pre-load adjustable at both ends, hence, you can dial it in as per your exact weight to extract the most performance from the motorcycle The setting provided to us worked well for most parts. The chassis, while pretty solid, isn’t actually dripping with feedback, and at moments I did find myself wondering what the motorcycle was doing underneath me, but ultimately the sticky tyres mean there aren’t many surprises. If you do end up buying the F77, we advise that you go for the optional tank grips as they make a world of difference when leaning into corners, or even braking hard for that matter.

Should you buy the Ultraviolette F77?

Coming to the practical bits, the Ultraviolette will be more demanding to ride than your everyday street-nakeds and even some small-displacement sport bikes. As far as the range goes, while we didn’t test it in a real-world fashion as half of the ride was on a track, if you end up being relentless in Ballistic mode, you can expect anywhere between 120 to 150 km per charge. That’s not bad, but it does mean that the F77 isn’t built for highway rides. That is if you don’t get the optional panniers which can even pack in one of the express chargers for the F77. When it comes to charging, Ultraviolette says that the F77’s battery pack can offer 35 km of range in one hour of charging when using the standard charger. The express charger can up that number to 75 km.

If you are a touring buff, maybe hold on for now. For everyone else, go for it - that is, if you don’t mind the absence of a conventional transmission in your motorcycle. If you can get over that bit, then the Ultraviolette feels like any other motorcycle on the road. The best way to sum up the Ultraviolette F77 would be by saying the same thing I said in the beginning, that it’s a motorcycle first, and an electric vehicle second.
