Does not feel safe

<p>Doors and other panels feel very light, sound hollow and thin if you knock on them. Raises safety concern and how it will perform in case of an accident. Making the car too lightweight has also reduced stability at higher speeds.</p>


Diesel engine harsh and rough after some time

<p>My car is quite comfortable to travel in, even for long distances but the engine has become quite rough after a few days of speedy driving. It seems the engine is built to perform best at city speeds and cannot cope with an aggressive driving style.</p>

When it was subjected to the frontal crash test at a speed of 64km/h,&nbsp;the electric SUV demonstrated ‘good’ protection for the driver's and passenger’s head, neck, thighs, and pelvis. The driver’s chest protection was deemed ‘adequate’, whereas the&nbsp;passenger’s was rated ‘good’. It achieved a perfect dynamic score of 24 out of 24 points and 12&nbsp;out of 12 points for child restraint system (CRS) installation. In the vehicle assessment,&nbsp;the SUV scored 7 out of 13 points.</p>

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Gets 5-Star Safety Rating in Bharat NCAP

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has earned a 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests. It is the brand’s first-ever EV and the fourth model overall to achieve this top rating. 

<p><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/">Maruti Suzuki </a>will enter India’s EV market with the launch of the e Vitara tomorrow,&nbsp;December 2. The electric SUV made its India debut earlier this year at the Bharat&nbsp;Mobility Auto Expo and is already on sale in Europe. It is developed&nbsp;and manufactured in India at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat.&nbsp;</p><p>For the uninitiated, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the very first unit of the&nbsp;e Vitara in August, marking a notable milestone in the country’s ‘Make in India’&nbsp;initiative. The e Vitara will be exported to over 100 countries,&nbsp;including key markets such as Europe and Japan. It will be offered&nbsp;with two battery options and is said to deliver a range of more than 500 kilometres. </p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Here’s What to Expect</strong></h2><p>Globally, Maruti Suzuki offers the<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/e-vitara/"> e Vitara</a> with a choice of two battery packs: 49kWh and 61kWh. The front-wheel-drive variants produce 142bhp and 192.5Nm with the 49kWh battery,&nbsp;while the larger 61kWh pack increases output to 172bhp without altering torque.&nbsp;The SUV is also offered in an all-wheel-drive configuration featuring a dual-motor&nbsp;setup that delivers a combined 181bhp and 300Nm. The 61kWh version can accelerate&nbsp;from 0–100km/h in about 8.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 150km/h. </p><p>In terms of range,&nbsp;the WLTP-certified figures are 344km for the 49kWh FWD model, 428km for the 61kWh FWD variant,&nbsp;and 394km for the AWD version. The introduction of the Victoris in the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment is an interesting move by Maruti Suzuki. I say that because the Grand Vitara was already performing well and maintaining a strong presence in the segment. It seems that the Victoris is aimed at expanding the brand’s reach further in the segment, given that it is sold through the Arena network, which comprises over 3,000 outlets – six times the number of Nexa outlets. This will allow the Victoris to target a much larger customer base. <p>The Victoris impresses with its striking design, which breaks away from Maruti Suzuki’s previous products. Crafted entirely at Maruti Suzuki’s India design studio, largely staffed by Indian designers, it commands strong road presence. Some of its design highlights include elements such as a sleek front fascia, a sharply styled rear end, a sloping roof, and a full-width taillight, which give it a distinctive character.</p>

<p>Inside, the cabin is a noticeable step up from other Maruti Suzuki models. While it still shares parts with other Maruti Suzuki products, the larger multimedia touchscreen and full-colour instrument cluster are visible upgrades. Similarly, while the quality of the cabin has definitely improved, there are a few hard plastics that could do with some improvement. In terms of practicality, the Victoris fares decently – while the boot space is generous, and the front seats are spacious and comfortable, the sloping roof compromises headroom for passengers taller than six feet.</p>

<p>Another major upgrade is the extensive list of standard equipment, making the Victoris the most feature-rich Maruti Suzuki product in India. This includes Level 2 ADAS, making it the brand’s first model to offer this technology. <p>On the track, the excellent capability of the TECT platform became quite evident. With 102bhp and 139Nm of torque, the Victoris feels confident and composed on the track. It has ample grip, well-weighted steering, and a suspension tuned to handle a wide range of road conditions. In fact, the platform seems capable of handling significantly more power. Coupled with its strong value proposition – it received one of the highest scores in that category – and excellent fuel economy numbers, exceeding 20km/l in everyday use, the Victoris emerges as a highly satisfying package and a deserving winner of our ‘Best of 2025’ award.

<p>Powering the car is Maruti’s 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which produces 80bhp and 112Nm of torque and is paired with either a five-speed manual or an AMT. The engine is responsive enough for everyday driving and remarkably efficient. That said, the AMT gearbox remains its weakest link. In stop-go traffic, it hesitates between shifts, making progress feel jerky and inconsistent. On the highway, however, the Dzire settles into a comfortable rhythm, delivering impressive efficiency and surprising stability. <p>The cabin is well-appointed and thoughtfully equipped. The 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, Arkamys-tuned audio, and even a sunroof give it a premium edge. Space and ergonomics are spot-on, though the quality of some materials and overall refinement still hint at cost-cutting. In essence, the Dzire remains true to its core strengths – it’s efficient, comfortable, and dependable. It may no longer have the novelty factor, but few cars deliver honest value quite as consistently as it does.

Marking a first for Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara features a two-spoke steering wheel.&nbsp;It comes loaded with premium amenities, such as a 10.1-inch&nbsp;touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,&nbsp;a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and wireless charging.</p><p>In terms of safety, the electric SUV packs an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, Level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, parking&nbsp;sensors front and rear, all-disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control. </p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara: Powertrain</strong></h2><p>The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to offer two battery options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh, both built with BYD’s LFP ‘Blade’ cells.
