When it was subjected to the frontal crash test at a speed of 64km/h,&nbsp;the electric SUV demonstrated ‘good’ protection for the driver's and passenger’s head, neck, thighs, and pelvis. The electric SUV made its India debut earlier this year at the Bharat&nbsp;Mobility Auto Expo and is already on sale in Europe. It is developed&nbsp;and manufactured in India at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat.&nbsp;</p><p>For the uninitiated, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the very first unit of the&nbsp;e Vitara in August, marking a notable milestone in the country’s ‘Make in India’&nbsp;initiative. The e Vitara will be exported to over 100 countries,&nbsp;including key markets such as Europe and Japan. It will be offered&nbsp;with two battery options and is said to deliver a range of more than 500 kilometres. </p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Here’s What to Expect</strong></h2><p>Globally, Maruti Suzuki offers the<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/e-vitara/"> e Vitara</a> with a choice of two battery packs: 49kWh and 61kWh. The front-wheel-drive variants produce 142bhp and 192.5Nm with the 49kWh battery,&nbsp;while the larger 61kWh pack increases output to 172bhp without altering torque.&nbsp;The SUV is also offered in an all-wheel-drive configuration featuring a dual-motor&nbsp;setup that delivers a combined 181bhp and 300Nm. I say that because the Grand Vitara was already performing well and maintaining a strong presence in the segment. It seems that the Victoris is aimed at expanding the brand’s reach further in the segment, given that it is sold through the Arena network, which comprises over 3,000 outlets – six times the number of Nexa outlets. This will allow the Victoris to target a much larger customer base. <p>The Victoris impresses with its striking design, which breaks away from Maruti Suzuki’s previous products. Crafted entirely at Maruti Suzuki’s India design studio, largely staffed by Indian designers, it commands strong road presence. Some of its design highlights include elements such as a sleek front fascia, a sharply styled rear end, a sloping roof, and a full-width taillight, which give it a distinctive character.</p>

<p>Inside, the cabin is a noticeable step up from other Maruti Suzuki models. While it still shares parts with other Maruti Suzuki products, the larger multimedia touchscreen and full-colour instrument cluster are visible upgrades. Similarly, while the quality of the cabin has definitely improved, there are a few hard plastics that could do with some improvement. In terms of practicality, the Victoris fares decently – while the boot space is generous, and the front seats are spacious and comfortable, the sloping roof compromises headroom for passengers taller than six feet.</p>

<p>Another major upgrade is the extensive list of standard equipment, making the Victoris the most feature-rich Maruti Suzuki product in India. This includes Level 2 ADAS, making it the brand’s first model to offer this technology. It has ample grip, well-weighted steering, and a suspension tuned to handle a wide range of road conditions. In fact, the platform seems capable of handling significantly more power. Coupled with its strong value proposition – it received one of the highest scores in that category – and excellent fuel economy numbers, exceeding 20km/l in everyday use, the Victoris emerges as a highly satisfying package and a deserving winner of our ‘Best of 2025’ award.

In stop-go traffic, it hesitates between shifts, making progress feel jerky and inconsistent. <p>The cabin is well-appointed and thoughtfully equipped. The 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity, Arkamys-tuned audio, and even a sunroof give it a premium edge. Space and ergonomics are spot-on, though the quality of some materials and overall refinement still hint at cost-cutting. In essence, the Dzire remains true to its core strengths – it’s efficient, comfortable, and dependable. It may no longer have the novelty factor, but few cars deliver honest value quite as consistently as it does.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire at autoX Awards: Best Cars of 2025 Ranked

Built on Maruti’s Heartect platform, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire’s strength is its simple, easy-to-use nature. It stays light, compact, and effortless to drive in city traffic.

<p>Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric car, the e Vitara, in India on December 2, 2025. The SUV, which made its global debut last year, was among Maruti’s prominent displays at the Auto Expo 2025. In August, Prime Minister&nbsp;Narendra Modi flagged off the very first unit at the Hansalpur manufacturing facility in Gujarat.&nbsp;The e Vitara will underscore a major milestone in the nation’s 'Make in India'&nbsp;initiative. It will be shipped to over 100 countries, including key markets like Europe&nbsp;and Japan.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/">Maruti Suzuki</a> will offer the electric SUV with two battery&nbsp;options, promising a range of more than 500 kilometres. </p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Design</strong></h2><div style="width: 100%; height: auto;" class="post-image">

At the rear, LED taillights, a shark&nbsp;fin antenna, and a roof-mounted spoiler complete the look.</p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Interior and Features</strong></h2><p>The e Vitara has a dual-tone black and tan cabin, featuring an uncluttered, minimalist dashboard. It comes equipped with dual screens (one for infotainment&nbsp;and another for the digital driver display). Marking a first for Maruti Suzuki, the e Vitara features a two-spoke steering wheel.&nbsp;It comes loaded with premium amenities, such as a 10.1-inch&nbsp;touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto,&nbsp;a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and wireless charging.</p><p>In terms of safety, the electric SUV packs an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, Level-2 ADAS, seven airbags, parking&nbsp;sensors front and rear, all-disc brakes, ABS with EBD, and electronic stability control. </p><h2><strong>Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara: Powertrain</strong></h2><p>The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is expected to offer two battery options: a 49kWh and a 61kWh, both built with BYD’s LFP ‘Blade’ cells. The upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will go head-to-head against models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, the MG ZS EV, the Tata Curvv EV, and the Mahindra BE 6. 

<p><b>The S-Cross has crossed over from the diesel side to petrol power in its switchover to&nbsp;BS6 emissions compliance. We get behind the wheel of the updated crossover to experience its change of heart. </b></p>

<p>Maruti Suzuki’s <i>petrolification</i> of its entire new car model range has seen the final car in its existing model line-up being converted to petrol power. As a result, the earlier diesel-only S-Cross crossover is now available with a new heart. The engine in question is Suzuki’s 1.5-litre, four cylinder K-Series motor that also does duty in the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz. And like in the other cars, the K15B petrol motor develops 103bhp of max power and 138Nm of peak torque. The engine is fitted as standard with Suzuki’s mild hybrid technology and the car is offered with a choice of a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Considering the change of heart of the S-Cross, we thought it was a good idea to drive the new automatic variant to see just how different the S-Cross now feels out on the road as compared to its earlier diesel manual avatar.</p>

<p>Going from turbo diesel power to petrol propulsion from a naturally aspirated engine brings with it the upside of not having any turbo lag during initial acceleration. This will have made the S-Cross manual easier to drive in stop-start traffic (much like all of the other cars that this engine powers). This automatic version of course makes things even better by using the engine’s linear power delivery to deliver steady acceleration followed by smooth gear changes from the torque converter automatic gearbox. As a result, the S-Cross has transformed to deliver a seamless driving experience.</p>

<p>It’s not all smooth sailing for the updated S-Cross though, for NVH is on the higher side during initial acceleration, owing also to the tall 1<sup>st</sup> and 2<sup>nd</sup> gear ratios, which results in an intrusive soundtrack from the powertrain at initial speeds. And considering that it’s this range of the powerband that is most used under normal urban driving considering, it is definitely the Achilles heel of the S-Cross automatic. Move into the higher reaches of the rev band though and the pleasant petrol engine sound track takes over.</p>

<p>This brings me to the character change of the S-Cross, the earlier diesel model’s meaty mid-range is now gone as there is none of that low-end diesel torque to allow for a sudden surge of power after the turbo spools. Instead, now you will experience mellow low-end response form the efficiency oriented engine which then leads to a more spirited nature in the 4,000-6,000rpm range. But then again, while the automatic gearbox isn’t slow in kickdown response, it isn’t especially quick either. Plus the lack of higher gears means the car isn’t the most spirited to drive owing to the taller gear ratios. So, it is indeed a very different experience from behind the wheel now.</p>

<p>Being a petrol car now, the S-Cross is no longer as fuel efficient as the earlier model and while its ARAI rated figures appear reasonable, only a tank-to-tank test will reveal its real-world fuel efficiency. Having said that, in my past experience I have found Suzuki’s mild hybrid tech to be very effective and result in commendable fuel efficiency. But we will have to see how it performs in automatic guise in the S-Cross as the power sapping torque converter gearbox does not have higher gears to allow the car to cruise at lower rpm at medium to fast speeds.</p>

<p><b>Stepping up its premium appeal</b></p>

<p>The updated S-Cross otherwise retains its core strengths as earlier since there are no other changes to the car apart from the new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system. So you have a spacious cabin with plenty of space and legroom for all occupants. The seats are nice and supportive and the suspension setup is a very comfortable and stable one. Which also means the S-Cross retains its commendable highway touring abilities with its wide footprint and low centre of gravity that gives it great stability at high speeds. The steering wheel too is very direct and offers a linear feel that makes you feel confident. The petrol S-Cross then builds on its premium crossover appeal with a more comfortable driving experience than earlier.</p>
