    The 2026 Tata Punch EV has received an update, and this isn’t just a cosmetic nip-and-tuck. The new Punch now comes with a lightly refreshed design, new battery options, and, most notably, a significant price drop. In fact, the top-spec variant is now up to Rs 1.85 lakh cheaper than before, which isn’t something you come across every day.</p>

<p>Of course, there are a few compromises. The ambient lighting has been removed, and the rear disc brakes have been replaced with drums. According to Tata, the new integrated powertrain has helped reduce costs considerably, making this aggressive pricing possible.</p>

<p>So, is it still a smart buy? Let’s find out.</p>

<h2>2026 Tata Punch EV Design Changes</h2>

<p>The changes at the front are subtle but certainly noticeable. Gone is the LED light bar that used to bridge the headlamps, replaced by a reshaped bumper for a sharper, more defined look. If I’m honest, I preferred the earlier front-end design; this one feels just a touch overworked. The cladding now sports a new Udaipur Slate Grey finish.</p><p>

That said, one very practical improvement is the increased ground clearance, which has gone from 190mm to 195mm. Those extra five millimetres might seem negligible on paper, but on Indian roads, they absolutely matter.</p>

<h2>2026 Tata Punch EV Features and Equipment</h2>

<p>The Punch EV continues to punch above its weight when it comes to equipment. You get twin 10.25-inch displays – one for the digital instrument cluster and another for the infotainment system – wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with multiple voice assistants.</p><p>

Higher variants even offer ventilated front seats, a voice-assisted electric sunroof, and automatic climate control, making the car feel well-appointed for its size and price.</p>







<h2>2026 Tata Punch  Battery Options </h2>

<p>The real update, however, lies beneath the surface. The Punch EV now uses an integrated 6-in-1 EV drive unit including the motor, gearbox, charger, and DC converter. This integrated design does not only make the powertrain lighter and more efficient, but also significantly easier to manufacture.</p><p>Buyers now have a choice between two battery options: a 30kWh pack and a larger 40kWh version. We tested the 40kWh variant, which produces 127.4bhp and 153.8Nm of torque and supports DC fast charging up to 65kW. The claimed range stands at 468km, but more on the real-world range in a bit. On the road, the updated Punch EV feels noticeably more eager than its predecessor. The 0 – 100km/h sprint time has dropped from 9.6 seconds to a flat 9 seconds.</p><h2>2026 Tata Punch EV Performance</h2>







<p>Power delivery now feels much smoother and more predictable, making for a more polished driving experience. The brakes, however, could still use a bit more bite; the pedal feels slightly spongy and requires more travel than is ideal. While Tata maintains that the switch to rear drum brakes meets all necessary safety standards, a sharper, more immediate response would have been welcome.</p><p>

    </p><p>The ride quality continues to be one of the Punch EV’s strongest traits, as it absorbs potholes and broken roads with impressive ease. For a compact EV, it feels remarkably mature and well-sorted, maintaining a level of composure that belies its size. Handling is equally tidy; the car changes direction confidently and remains stable even through fast corners. Its compact dimensions make it a breeze to manoeuvre through dense traffic or slot into tight urban parking spaces, making it feel perfectly suited to the demands of daily city life.</p><h2>2026 Tata Punch EV Range</h2>







<p>During our 80km drive around Kochi – which included a mix of highways and heavy city traffic – the battery dropped from 100% to 69%. The indicated range decreased from approximately 350km to 220km, with average consumption hovering between 168Wh/km and 172Wh/km. In real-world terms, this translates to a realistic range of roughly 310 to 320km with the larger 40kWh battery pack.</p><p>

<p>The new Punch’s prices now range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh, but the real headline here is the substantial price drop. The top-spec variant is now almost Rs 1.85 lakh cheaper than before, while even the base version costs Rs 30,000 less than the outgoing model. If you opt for the battery-as-a-service option, the starting price drops to Rs 6.49 lakh – a refreshing strategy in a market where prices usually only creep upwards. (All prices are ex-showroom)</p>

<h2>2026 Tata Punch EV Review Verdict</h2>

<p>Overall, the Punch EV facelift makes a very strong case for itself. It drives better than before, offers a genuinely usable real-world range, and comes at a much more attractive price point. If you drive largely within the city and are looking for an electric car that is practical, comfortable, and easy to live with, the Punch EV makes a great deal of sense. The 2026 Tata Punch.ev facelift has arrived with a revised powertrain, updated styling, and significantly more aggressive pricing.

    The Punch has been a strong performer for Tata Motors. This sub-compact SUV topped the sales charts in 2024, dethroning the long-reigning titans from Maruti Suzuki. Since then, however, sales figures for the Punch have dropped, prompting Tata to respond with a facelift. And that is how we got the new Punch. Crucially, it now comes with a more powerful engine option. The question, then, is simple: has Tata finally turned the Punch into a truly formidable performer?</p>

<h2>2026 Tata Punch Facelift Design and Interior Updates</h2>

<p>In typical facelift fashion, the Punch’s exterior has not changed dramatically but has been subtly tweaked. The grille between the DRLs is slimmer, and the LED headlamp clusters are more compact.</p><p>

    </p><p>Together, these changes give the front end a more EV-like appearance. Smarter-looking 16-inch alloys enhance the side profile, and I am glad Tata has retained the high-mounted rear door handles, as they preserve the Punch’s distinctive character.</p>
<p>Like almost every new car today, the Punch now features connected taillamps. While the light bar looks contemporary and smart, it also robs the car of some of the individuality that defined the older design.</p><p>

    </p><p>Overall, the Punch still comes across as a smart and well-proportioned SUV, even if the rear now looks more generic.</p>







<p>The most noticeable visual change in the cabin is the new dual-tone seat upholstery, which lends the cabin a more spacious feel. The dashboard has a clean, uncluttered layout, and the seats now have improved under-thigh support – a genuinely welcome addition. The new two-spoke, illuminated steering wheel, also seen in other Tata models, looks futuristic, but has a glossy black finish in the middle that is a fingerprint magnet.</p><p>

    </p><p>The same finish appears on the panel housing the new touch-based AC controls. Another new addition to this facelift is the 360-degree camera. The quality of the feed is average at best, but that’s not a big issue, given the segment the Punch sits in. I have mixed feelings about the 7-inch digital MID, too. While it displays a wealth of information, the user interface feels underdeveloped and somewhat amateurish.</p>
<p>The space in the second row remains largely unchanged. However, rear-seat passengers now benefit from the added under-thigh support, and Tata has finally included a three-point seatbelt for the middle occupant.</p><p>

    </p><p>Unfortunately, there is no rear-seat load sensor, so you have to keep the seatbelts fastened even when no one is sitting there, or the warning chime will kick in.</p>







<h2>2026 Tata Punch Turbo and CNG-AMT Performance Review</h2>

<p>I had the opportunity to sample both the new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and the CNG variant paired with the new AMT gearbox. The turbo-petrol engine left me genuinely impressed by just how potent it is. It accelerates with far greater urgency, cruises more comfortably at highway speeds, and makes overtaking significantly easier.</p><p>

    </p><p>Combined with the Punch’s inherently good ride quality and responsive dynamics, the added performance makes it far more enjoyable to drive. Yes, the manual gearbox is slightly notchy, and the clutch lacks progressive feel; however, when driving enthusiastically, these things simply fade into the background. However, the engine is gruff and noticeably noisy.</p>
<p>The CNG-AMT combination is far more relaxed and noticeably slower. In CNG mode, acceleration is gentle to begin with, and the AMT takes its own sweet time to shift gears.</p><p>

    </p><p>This configuration is clearly designed for convenience rather than outright performance. To that end, I do see the appeal of the CNG-AMT version of the Punch – it offers excellent fuel efficiency and the ease of an automatic.</p>









<h2>2026 Tata Punch Facelift Verdict: Is It Worth Buying?</h2>

<p>It is fair to say that, barring the addition of the new turbo-petrol engine, most of the changes to the Punch are incremental. The turbo motor undoubtedly adds a new layer of excitement, but the overall experience would have been better if Tata had also addressed refinement. The introduction of an AMT with the CNG variant, however, is a smart move, significantly broadening the Punch’s appeal and giving buyers a more appealing choice. The Punch’s biggest trump card remains its aggressive pricing. Many of its shortcomings are easier to overlook when you consider how competitively priced it is. <p>The Tata Punch facelift has scored a five-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test, giving buyers another strong reason to look at the compact SUV. Safety has become a major talking point in this segment, and the Punch continues to stay in focus for the right reasons. In the latest tests, the model secured 30.58 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. Bharat NCAP carried out a full set of impact tests to check how the car performs in everyday crash situations. With this result, the Punch facelift now sits among the safer options available in its price range.</p>

<p>In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/upcoming-tata-cars/">Tata</a> Punch facelift scored 14.71 points out of 16. This test mainly checks how the front structure and restraints protect occupants during a head-on impact. The side movable deformable barrier test saw the car score 15.87 points out of 16. Bharat NCAP also conducted the side pole impact assessment, where the Punch met all protection requirements under the current protocol.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Exterior Design &amp; Road Presence</h2>

<p>There’s a distinct pull the moment you first lay eyes on the new Sierra. Its boxy silhouette makes for a bold stance, giving it presence in a segment where most rivals look homogenised. The design pays homage of sorts to the original, with hints of the classic upright stance and signature rear Alpine windows. </p><p>

    </p><p>The front fascia is futuristic, ultra-slim LED headlights sit above a bold grille, while the lightsaber LED DRLs and connected rear LED bar lend a distinctive lighting signature. The new 19-inch alloy wheels and roof rails add a rugged flavour. It’s among the tallest, widest and longest in its class, translating into a commanding road presence and generous interior space.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Interior, Space &amp; Comfort</h2>

<p>Stepping inside the Sierra signals a departure from the regular Tata interiors. There’s a sense of occasion, with premium materials and thoughtful execution. The highlight is undoubtedly the triple-screen setup on higher trims, a 12.3-inch central touchscreen flanked by a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch passenger display. The screens offer a crisp, intuitive interface, and Tata has added features like wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. Tata also lets you connect the passenger screen separately via wireless headphones, independent of the central infotainment screen.</p><p>

    </p><p>The steering wheel is borrowed from Tata’s other new-age cars and feels right at home in the Sierra as well, complete with an illuminated centre logo. Although I am still not a big fan of gloss-black finishes on the steering, which are tough to maintain and prone to scratches. The seats are spacious and supportive, with manually extendable under-thigh support up front and a reclining rear bench that comfortably accommodates three adults. The passenger sitting on the rear-left side also benefits from ‘Boss Mode’, which allows them to move the front seat with ease. The light-coloured dual-tone upholstery will be a pain to keep clean over the years. Thoughtful touches like rear window blinds, dedicated AC vents, and multiple USB chargers reinforce the Sierra’s family-centric design. With 450 litres of luggage space, and up to 1,250 litres with the rear seats folded, luggage capacity is generous and practical.</p>

      
    
      
    


<h2>Tata Sierra Features, Technology &amp; Safety</h2>

<p>Tata has clearly thrown in a laundry list of features in the Sierra. The top-spec variant ticks off a long checklist that includes a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, a 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos that delivers a great aural experience, and Level 2 ADAS tech. </p><p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Engine Options &amp; Performance Review</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s engine lineup includes a new 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine along with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.5-litre diesel. I drove the turbo-petrol variant along with the diesel, and between the two, it is an easy choice. It is, of course, the Hyperion turbo-petrol that offers good refinement, strong acceleration, and decent tractability. The lag is nearly non-existent, and the 6-speed Aisin automatic gearbox does a decent job of holding on to the gears as you tap on the throttle for an overtake.</p><p>

<p>Coming to the diesel, it feels significantly more lethargic than the turbo-petrol and is noisier, too. Surprisingly, the diesel engine lacks that typical mid-range dollop of grunt that you would want from, well, a diesel engine. Acceleration is slower, too, and you feel near-constant vibrations from the engine at all times. It will likely be the more frugal option, but if performance is what you seek, then the turbo-petrol is what you should consider.</p>

      
    
      
    
<h2>Tata Sierra Ride Quality, Handling &amp; Off-Road Ability</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s chassis strikes a supple balance. Tata’s engineers have dialled in a suspension setup that soaks up broken urban roads with composure yet doesn’t feel floaty on open stretches. Frequency-dependent dampers help tame body movement and reinforce confidence on twisty roads.</p><p>

    </p><p>While steering feedback isn’t razor-sharp, it’s predictable and feels reassuring at speed. A ground clearance of 205mm keeps scrubs at bay on rougher terrain, and the Sierra even tackled light off-road sections with confidence.</p>

<h2>Tata Sierra Price, Variants &amp; Value Proposition</h2>

<p>The Sierra’s pricing strategy is premium rather than being disruptive. The prices start at Rs 11.49 lakh and go up to Rs 21.29 lakh. The diesel variants start at Rs 12.99 lakh, and the turbo-petrol variants are priced from Rs 17.99 lakh, which I think could have been more aggressive. Also, there’s no DCT with the turbo-petrol; it is only available on the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine option, which is a miss.</p><p>

    </p><p>There are a few nitpicks, though. The road and tyre noise are intrusive at times, the diesel engine isn’t the quietest, and some rivals feel sharper when it comes to driving dynamics. But the Sierra’s many strengths, coupled with its emotional appeal, make it a good choice in the mid-size SUV space. With prices of the 2026 Kia Seltos and the new Mahindra XUV 7XO announced, the Sierra has its work cut out. The fact that the prices of the Hyundai Creta undercuts the Sierra's only makes its job that much tougher.</p>

<p>The 2026 Sierra is much more than just a reboot. It blends old-school Sierra appeal with thoughtful modernity. From its bold design to tech-rich cabin and refined turbo-petrol performance, the Sierra offers something that feels both familiar and excitingly new. If the build quality and long-term reliability pass the test of time, the Sierra nameplate could very well have a new legend to its story.</p><p>

Tata Sierra First Drive Review - History Hits Refresh

The return of the Tata Sierra nameplate is now old news. The question to ask is: will it pose a problem for its rivals, old and new? We believe it will. 

<p>Tata Motors has revealed the full variant lineup of the Punch facelift ahead of its launch on 13 January 2026. The updated micro SUV will be offered in six trims: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished, and Accomplished+ S. Prices will be announced on launch day. From what is on offer, Tata is aiming to make the Punch appeal to a wide range of buyers. </p><p>There is a version for first-time car owners, one for regular city use, and others for buyers who want more comfort and technology. The facelift focuses on adding features, improving safety, and updating the design, while keeping the Punch familiar and easy to live with in everyday driving conditions.</p><h2><strong>Tata Punch Facelift: Smart&nbsp;</strong></h2><p>The Smart variant is the starting point, yet it covers the basics well. It gets six airbags as standard, LED headlamps, and a new steering wheel design. Eco and City drive modes allow you to choose how the car responds in traffic. Safety and control come from ESC and indirect TPMS, while remote keyless entry adds daily convenience. This variant is aimed at buyers who want a safe and simple compact SUV.</p><h2><strong>Tata Punch Facelift:&nbsp;Pure</strong></h2><p>

Tata Punch Facelift Variants and New Features Revealed

Tata Punch facelift will offer six variants from Smart to Accomplished+ S with petrol, turbo-petrol, CNG powertrains and other new features.

<p><strong><em>Headlined by a larger battery pack, the 2022 Tata Nexon EV Max promises a longer range and better overall performance than the regular Nexon EV. Is it really the case, though? We take the new version on a&nbsp;long drive to see if it can&nbsp;live up to the claim.</em></strong></p>

<p>As soon as it arrived on the market in 2020, the Tata Nexon EV turned out to be a runaway success for its maker. Currently, it's the best-selling electric car in India, which goes on to show that Tata made the right call at the right time with the Nexon EV.</p>

<p>More than the numbers, though, the biggest achievement of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/nexon-ev/" target="_blank">Nexon EV</a> is that it single-handedly democratised EVs in our country. Despite its substantially higher price tag than the regular petrol- or diesel-powered Nexon, the electric version is flying off the shelves. What's more, as a mass-market electric car, the Nexon EV ticks almost all the boxes. However, there’s no denying that it is not quite perfect – it has its shortcomings, especially in terms of real-world range and driving dynamics.</p>

<p>Now, two years after its market launch, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/" target="_blank">Tata Motors</a> has brought the updated Nexon EV Max into the market. According to the company, everything about it is ‘Max’, and it also claims that all the previous issues with the standard car have been sorted in the latest model. Is it the case, though? We got to spend a day with it to find out.</p>

<p><strong>What’s New?</strong></p>

<p>On the surface, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/tata/nexon-ev-max/" target="_blank">Nexon EV Max</a> looks more or less similar to the regular version. You can, however, differentiate it from the standard Nexon EV, given&nbsp;its new ‘intensi-teal’ paint option and updated dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the updates are more prominent. New elements include a rotary gear selector, ventilated front seats, and an air purifier. It retains the 7-inch Harman touchscreen, which is okay to use but doesn’t feel as crisp or premium as it should in a Rs 20+ lakh vehicle. You also get Auto Hold, Hill Descent, and four levels of Regen Braking&nbsp;(0, 1, 2, and 3). Among other features, there’s an auto-dimming IRVM and a sunroof. The steering can only be adjusted for rake. Overall, everything in the cabin is well put together, and the quality of plastic bits&nbsp;is very good. The textured dashboard and honeycomb pattern on leather upholstery particularly look impressive.</p>

<p>Under the skin, the updates are even juicier.&nbsp;The Nexon EV Max features a larger 40.5kWh battery pack – over 10kWh more than the standard version – and at 141bhp and 250Nm, it develops more power (+14bhp) and torque (+5Nm). The biggest improvement comes in the range department – Tata claims that it can now do 437kms on a full charge, which is 125kms more than before. There’s also a 7.2kW home charger, which juices up the battery pack in just 5 – 6 hours, which is significantly faster than the 3.3kW charger of the regular version, which takes 10 – 12 hours. Using a 50kW DC public charger, the battery pack can be recharged from 0 – 80% in just 56 minutes.</p>

<p>Thanks to all the updates, the prices have also gone up substantially – the Nexon EV Max starts at ₹17.74 lakh for the XZ+ variant and goes up to ₹19.24 lakh for the XZ+ Lux variant (both prices are ex-showroom). This makes it dearer by over ₹1.5 lakh than the equivalent variants of the standard Nexon EV.</p>

<p>Now, since the biggest draw of the Nexon EV Max is its larger battery pack and longer driving range, we decided to put that claim&nbsp;to the test in the real world. We drove for a total of nearly 150kms in a&nbsp;day and decided to document everything from start to finish. Here’s how it went...</p>

<p><b>First Stint</b></p>

<p><i>Indicated Range / Battery Level at Start Point: 396kms / 98% </i></p>

<p><i>Distance covered: 41kms</i></p>

<p><i>Indicated Range / Battery at Finish Point: 195kms / 75% </i></p>

<p>As soon as we started from our hotel (in central Delhi), the onboard computer&nbsp;indicated a range of nearly 400kms at 98% of charge. However, the moment you turn the air-con on, it drops by a whopping 40kms. So, the moment we hit the road, the range had already dropped to 356kms.</p>

<p>I decided to cover the first few kilometres driving sedately and without using any regen mode. As soon as we were on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, the road opened up, and I found myself going faster, maintaining speeds of 80 – 100km/h, with occasional bursts of 120km/h wherever possible. This is how I’d drive a conventional ICE-powered car, meaning I wasn’t doing anything extraordinary. At high speeds, the stability was good, but I felt the steering was kind of vague – on-centre, it felt lifeless.</p>

<p>Just 4kms before our shoot location, we got stuck in a bad jam. And by bad, I mean terrible – Google Maps showed a delay/congestion of 48 minutes ahead! We got out of the jam in about 30 minutes, but as expected, this had an adverse effect on the range. By the time we reached the location, we had only covered 41kms,&nbsp;but the range had dropped by a staggering 120kms – the driver display indicated we had 195kms and 75% of juice left. Now, while the range had dropped significantly, we had only lost 23% of charge, which was good news.</p>

<p>During the second stint, we carried on with the photo/video shoot, which involved both the car being idle (ignition switched on) for about half an hour and some spirited driving. I turned the regen to its most aggressive setting – Level 3 – and switched between different modes – City, Sport, and Eco.</p>

<p>Before I get&nbsp;on with the range talk, I’d like to highlight some of the Nexon EV Max’s key highlights. With a more powerful motor, the Nexon EV Max is a quick car, especially in Sport mode. Switching to Eco mode dulls the response but not much, and the City mode is the most balanced, of course.</p>

<p>Another thing worth highlighting is the EV Max’s ride and handling. The balance is perfect, and despite weighing 100kgs more than before, you don't feel its weight around corners or while going over bad roads. The suspension is stiff for obvious reasons, but it isn’t jittery over bad roads. Similarly, the steering, even though it feels vague on-centre, is more predictable and linear when you’re driving around bends. What’s more, with traction control finally on offer, it puts the power down in a clean manner. The&nbsp;front tyres no longer turn into a cloud of smoke when you mash the accelerator pedal.</p>

<p>The brakes have improved vastly too. They don’t feel wooden like that of other EVs, and the pedal has a progressive feel. That said, the braking performance isn’t as sharp as you would expect from a vehicle with disc brakes on all four wheels. However, with the introduction of regen modes, the EV Max decelerates quicker now. In its most extreme setting or Level 3, you can drive in town with just one pedal, and it also helps increase the range marginally. What’s more, the regen system has an engine-braking sort of an effect upon lift-off, which makes driving in the hills quite fun – it feels&nbsp;natural and intuitive. That said, I’d suggest sticking to Level 2, as Level 3 can be a little too extreme in daily driving, especially&nbsp;in traffic.</p>

<p>After finishing the shoot, it was time to head back to the hotel. At this point, we had covered a total distance of around 75kms (since the start), and the battery level had dropped to 54%. In the second stint, we covered close to 34kms, consumed 21% of battery, and lost around 15kms from indicated range. While not as great as the claimed numbers, the real&nbsp;range had&nbsp;started to improve at this time.</p>

<p>In the final stint, I decided to switch to Eco mode and turned the regen to Level 2. The traffic was light to moderate this time, and once again, I didn’t try to eke out the maximum range – instead, I continued to drive normally. I never crossed 80km/h and maintained speeds of 60 to 70km/h on empty stretches.&nbsp;By the end of the journey, I had covered 61kms,&nbsp;and the EV Max had lost only 20% charge. It was the first time during the drive that the indicated range had increased and not dropped&nbsp;– the onboard computer&nbsp;showed that we had gained 3kms. This was more representative of the claimed range. Of course, it required&nbsp;driving sedately, but I must say that I wasn't particularly careful with my driving style.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the end, after doing our calculations, we estimated that the Nexon EV can do close to 270kms on a full charge or even breach 300kms on the highway. Now,&nbsp;that’s a very&nbsp;impressive real-world range for a mass-market EV.</p>

<p><b>Verdict</b></p>

<p>While the Nexon EV Max will certainly not get&nbsp;anywhere close to its claimed 400kms of range on a single charge, it definitely has a longer range of around 280 to 300kms, which means that it does deliver on its promise. Where the standard Nexon EV would struggle to go past 220 – 230kms of range, this one gives you an extra 70kms of peace of mind.</p>

<p>What’s more, the EV Max is definitely a more rounded product, and it feels more complete now. Sure, with a price tag of 20 lakh (ex-showroom), it’s quite expensive for a sub-4m SUV, but, then, its zero tail-pipe emissions and lower running costs will still lure environment-conscious buyers. Overall, it’s a strong and a much-improved product than before,&nbsp;and one that will help Tata maintain its stronghold in the <a href="https://www.autox.com/electric-cars-in-india/" target="_blank">EV space</a>.</p>
